Yep, doing the hog swap
Holy basil question?... Is that the plant they use in Thia food? The recipes say holy basil , but a couple people tell me it is Thia basil that they use ? I am confused. I have grown Thia basil but it looks and feels nothing like holy basil.
I think the flavors are similar, I've never grown Thai basil but I grow both Holy and Yoeme basils. they both have sweet & spicy aroma and flavor and I use both of them in place of Thai basil. I can't decide which one I like better really like them both. I can send you cuttings if you like with the fig, I've been slow to pull them up since I'm waiting for seeds.... next year is going to be interesting because I know seeds are bound to everywhere :blinking:
I like the dark purple flower heads on the Yoeme basil..it's sweet fragrance wafts through the area. seeds? yes it makes lots of seeds!!!

I think I would do better with seeds I don't keep basil well in the house over winter.
If the seeds are not ready I would be glad to just Oink some in the hog wild seed swap, I already have your Malabar spinach written down sounds delicious.
yeah, I have some ready but maybe it would be more fun to oink them hahaha ! either way I'll make sure I set some aside for you.
I prefer growing it outdoors too and I will probably harvest some to freeze if I want it... plus I just made two batches of pesto and some basil infused olive oil. This year I think I will also dry some of these basils, as the sweet & spicy flavor makes a nice tea! Gosh I think I better get busy!!! LOL
Tami, do you grow basil? Let me know I can send you some seeds.
Mmmm, love the purple basil. I'll be *oinking* some too!
I told Ella that I feel like a full-fledged HOG already(!) ....and that's just from what's listed so far! I had originally intended to just give seed, not oink any. Yeah, right!
I know what you mean Chelle, how many seeds can we really grow? but I'll be in there oinking too, probably way more seeds than I can handle growing!! It should be interesting and probably a few laughs!! But how could we resist them when they are flaunting their seeds at us
I would love to have some basil seeds. I haven't signed up for the piggy swap as I don't have any seeds this year due to our move to the new home. I'll cmail my addy. Thanks so much.

I bought one plant for $4 at Trader Jo's of a small leafed basil. It grew so big, I cut it into 6 plants and put them in a big windowbox. I've had hugh quantities of basil all summer. I liked the small leaf variety as I just ripped the leaves off of the stems and put them in salads and everything else with no chopping required.
That sounds good stormy!! I should try growing some inside this winter although the kitchen doesn't get enough light with the covered porch there. hmmm...
I ordered some seed. Of course, I over did it and bought a lot. I hope everybody likes the choices I picked. I can't help it I always buy more than I need.
