Truth should be everpresent.
A friend at our church has shown me the greatest kindness. He did not want to see me having to climb the hill in snow and ice again this winter so he built me a really nice chicken house on the end of his barn. It's perfect for me. We keep one of our horses there most of the time and it is just down the road from our house. He built the chicken house with solid walls and a tin roof. He cut a big window in one end and the door has 4 big glass windows so they get plenty of sunlight and fresh air while staying dry and out of the wind. He built 2 roosts and 4 nests. It is about 7' wide by 13' long. Water is easy to get by dipping from the pond right by the barn. Clear creek water runs into the pond constantly. I have 12 hens, 2 roos and my duck in the house. I plan to move my bantam's smaller coop into the big chicken house for the winter. Then I'd have them all in one space to make feeding easier but still keep them apart for breeding purposes. And I don't want the 3 roos to fight. The 2 EE roos have been raised together and they get along fine. They are much bigger than the bantam roo but he was bred down to bantam size from a fighting cock and he is feisty. He also has daggers for spurs and I have no doubt he could do some serious damage to the EEs. I may use him later with one of my EE hens to get some bantam sized EEs. He has muffs.

Here is my new chicken house. The roosts and big window.

The nests and door. Their water bucket sits beside the door now.

The floor covered with sawdust for them to scratch in. That manger is not there anymore.
