Truth should be everpresent.
Sadly I do not have any chickens any more. When I went back home to La last October to be with my sweet Momma until she passed, a skunk got into my henhouse on two consecutive nights and killed my entire flock. I was devastated. They had all gotten their new feathers in after molting and were so gorgeous. I have never replaced them though I have thought about it. It is strictly a monetary decision as I would love to have more birds. I really do miss their antics. But with the price of feed going up I cannot justify getting a new flock as long as I can buy free range yard eggs at my feed store for less than I can produce them. Maybe at some point in the future I can get a few hens. I always keep my eyes open. But for now I am using the chicken coop to store hay for the horses.
