This place is always worth the visit.
Their clematis selection always gets my attention. Well grown gallons for $13.00.
Their succulents are intiguing; they sell lots of cute ones
They are also the owners of Tuffits, http://www.tuffits.com/ which are pricey but worth it when they go on sale.

And don't forget the dogs -- the wonderful, wonderful dogs that are always there.

I particularly appreciate the roses they sell during bare-root season. They plant them in containers, but still charge only the bare-root price.

You are right. I can only see one of the dogs in my mind right now -- a medium sized wooly tan guy -- very handsome.

It's funny, but I've never really looked at their roses. I've always just assumed they only sold grafted roses, and somewhere along the line I got committed to the idea of growing only own-root roses. I've got somewhere upwards of 150 of them, and almost all of them came from Vintage Gardens -- mostly as bands....

Now that Vintage no longer has a retail presence, I may just have to pay more attention....

I firmly believe life's too short to bother with own-root roses unless they can't be found grafted. I have bought hundreds and hundreds of bands and gallons from Vintage and other own-root nurseries, of course, but only because they were the only ones available. Burlington Nursery now offers a budding service and it's been a fabulous experience so far. The budded Smoky I bought from Burlington grew three times as much in one year as my little Smoky bands from Vintage have grown in four or five years.

Love this place too!
Not all own-root are alike, I finally gave up on my Smoky, I will be contacting Burlington to start me a grafted one. Zuzu, Susan used to work at Vintage. Smiling

If Susan worked at Vintage, then I'm sure I know her. I used to walk over there all the time and fill up a shoebox or two with bands.

My name in "real life" is Elena, Susan.
