I sure will, everyone loves the meticulas work the Amish does, and when he was here yesterday measuring he said he would put the metal roof right over the existing shingle roof after he fixes the damage, the reason he said was to give more insalation, and noise retention, we will see what estimate he gives me.
Make sure it is legal to do that Doris. Some states say you can't have too many layers on the roof, as it gets too heavy. My Mom in Michigan found out the hard way. She had damage from leaks, so she applied to the city for approval of repairs, and they told her she would have too many layers, she had to tear everything off and put on a new roof!

Doris the color is the same as for choosing what color to paint your house. The lighter the color the more it reflects the sun, darker colors absorb heat from the sun. A medium color woudl both reflect and absorb heat but not as much as either light or dark would. The house roof here is plain galvanized color but our front porch roof is green. DH likes color in case you all can't tell from the colors he paints the bee hives but I don't think they gave him a choice when the house was built. Or else he was too cheap at that time to go with color Our neighbor put bright red roofs on some of his barns and white on one or two of them. And yes you need to check on how many layers it's legal to have on a roof due to the weight.
DH also put roofing metal on the sides of our house when he had to redo one side due to warping of the wood a few years ago. It's charcoal grey and we both love it.

Wayne has a dark green roof, and he loves it! His light bill runs around $100 or a little more. His was put on over the old roof. He has a small doublewide.
Jamie, I've managed not to get lost, so far, but I might get pretty hungry if I don't get my throat fixed! All kidding aside, it'll be fixed tomorrow. They'll go in with a wirepast my stomach, then use something, not a balloon, to stretch it. Last time they used a balloon..

Interesting Susan. I actually like them, they seem more practical but NEVER see them up here. I like what Doris was told about application over a set of shingles (for insulation value) and that is probably legal but you are all correct, she should check. When I bought this house it had 3 roof layers (all of which leaked). One of the first things I did (in addition to learning to repair plaster) was to have a complete tear-off and application of vey good quality shingles. They are still fine it seems, but yes, Doris, if there is going to be tear-off do make sure that disposal and yard clean-up is covered in the estimate. The work I had done was pristine when they left but it was not because I knew all of the questions to ask, rather that I got lucky in my choice, I think.

Jamie, you're probably right! Audrey, hope your procedure goes smoothly & quickly, & you're back to normal in a jiffy! Prayers for you... Angels around you...
Metal Roofs?? Seems like they would be Really loud in the rain... I don't know--- most homes around here are Shingles, but not the wood ones--- they're fire-hazards!...Think ours is composite or somethin' like that! I guess if you have lots & lots of insulation underneath, it cuts down on noise, and helps with your electric bill.
