This morning I was exploring and found this page. You do indeed come up with creative solutions! The scaffold and construction were certainly innovative, and thankfully also safe. Yes, the property next door will look better behind the lattice! I hope your climbing roses grow quickly. What color? Colors?
Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.

I've done a little more on the trellis, it's made a considerable difference to the view from my window. Smiling

.
Brenda, good question! The trellis along the back wall is shady most of the time at ground level so I was thinking clematis as they prefer their roots in shade.

Clematis, roots in shade, vines in sun, they grow fast and the blooms are lovely. That will be such an improvement Thumbs up

Thanks, June, still a way to go yet to whip the garden into shape. The main obstacle right now is money, these things are not cheap!

And everything is getting more expensive every day Sad

Your new trellising system has already paid you back in the way that it screens and blocks the view of the neighbor's house Lovey dubby

The view of that house has been a thorn in my side, or should I say eye for the past 10 years,
400 bucks well spent I'd say.

It was definitely money well spent.

I have been curious about the idea that houses in Japan depreciate over a 20 year period regardless of any improvements you make to them ? Is that for tax purposes and resale value?

Resale value, depending on the type of construction, 20-25 years for a timber framed home
the building has no value just the value of the land minus the cost of demolition.
Our house is now 40 years old I paid just $35000 for it 9 years ago it has neither appreciated nor depreciated in that time. Land out here in the countryside is cheap, a different story in Tokyo.
