Thanks! :) |

My Karen Kuhn got planted late as it was not on the "Must Have" list but made a few pretty flowers at the end of the season. I look forward to giving it more of a chance next time. Has anyone grown Camano Sunshine? What did you think of it. I had ordered it from Corralitos last year along with Yesterday. CS didn't make it in the garden. I am wondering whether it is worth trying again. I liked "Yesterday", but found the petals a bit messy. Camano Sunshine is supposed to e very productive. Salish Dahlias |

Ferncliff Lemon Aura is our 2016 challenge flower. Very bright yellow and great form.![]() |
I always like to see Lemon Aura and am not sure why we haven't grown it yet . |
It is very short, about 2.5-3 ft tall. It has lots of little tuber fingers, and is very determined to live in even inhospitable places. The flowers tend to bloom in the bush if unbudded. CC |
I have had some stock that grows short like that but it is generally 4 ft and quite healthy. Disbudding does help, but late season or partial shade helps stem length too. |
Really? I'm surprised. I've seen it in other gardens and it is always short. Perhaps it's the stock in this area. CC |
I saw it blooming at Ferncliff Gardens in October and really liked it. It is on my order. I think it was a good 4' there or I would have noticed that. Salish Dahlias |

Ferncliff Lemon Aura does have very skinny ray florets. As I look through the pictures on google images, it appears to be a straight cactus in some gardens and an incurved cactus in others. It won a best triple in a show and here is a link to the picture. The flowers are trying to be a bit incurved: http://www.dahliasocietyofohio.org/Images/DSO_Show_2012/Fern... We like to place a sign on our porch that says: We are in the garden. Really, we are always in the garden. |
I've always seen it with a slight incurve. Wonder if there has been a split in the stock, or it's just coincidence. CC |
I've had both in the same season. I believe the earlier season blooms tend to be more incurved. The one I posted above was an October bloom and very straight. |

What yellows are you trying this year ? New or old |

I'm trying a bunch of new yellows this year (apologies if some of these are not officially classed as 'yellow'): AC Big Johnson Nargold AC Chicken Ranch Ivory Palaces Irene's Pride Fool's Gold Jaden Charles Happy Day Encore Almand Delight Fantasia I grew Wyn's Conquistador last year and liked it very much. |
Almand Delight???? Not in the classification book. We like to place a sign on our porch that says: We are in the garden. Really, we are always in the garden. |
Yet additional and abject apologies if they are not officially classified as yellow. ![]() |
This catalog image for Almand Delight is what caused my confusion.![]() |
Only one Almand variety now in the classification book while I am sure there are many in the consolidated book. I used to grow several. We like to place a sign on our porch that says: We are in the garden. Really, we are always in the garden. |
