That is looking like an excellent cut flower, Ted! I will have to think of some good mixes to make bouquets with that include it. I'm guessing it would go well with some of the snapdragons I grow for one thing.
Ha ! I did not order any yellow Waterlilys and only have a tuber or two of Keith H but now have a tuber of HH Sprite thanks to one of our cubits group
Just kind of winging it on yellow WL this year as I hope to see one or two new ones available for 2017 .
I bet another yellow turns up before plant out .
Benny, are you interested in Sandia Showboat or do you already have that one? Its a very pale creamy yellow but an excellent plant that makes tons of flowers.
Name: Annie Luck Apex, North Carolina BE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE IN TH
Benny, thanks for reminding me about Keith H! It was planted very late,
very far from the other dahlias. I need to go check and see if he's still there.
Hope so!
OK, I will throw a few in your box...Hope to send it off Monday morn...Let me know quick if there is anything else you want besides my seedling dahlia.
Goodness I think that will do ,
The only drawback of having the bulk of your tubers keep nicely is that you end up with a darn lot of tubers
Luckily I have been finding a lot of good homes for my extras . I'll C-mail ya Noni
Ha I had a feeling another yellow WL would find me , got my box from JS today and Jerry gifted me a Fern Irene and a second HH Jokers Wild to go with the one I ordered .
So I did not order a single yellow WL and I now have HH Sprite , Sandia Showboat and Fern Irene and I have not tried any of them
We grew it for a few years. It was an 8 inch in diameter yellow waterlily type flower. It was not formed well enough to show. The cut flower potential was rather limited as it did not have all that many flowers and the flowers were a bit over sized for bouquets. We had hoped to use some seeds to get more giant waterlilies. No seeds on it and we quit growing it.

i love yellow dahlias and have learned a lot reading this thread and have written down a good list of varieties to try! i love the clear sharp lemon yellows, even with a greenish cast - any recommendations? and i love soft yellows, and yellow/white bicolors.
some yellows i know and love and have grown or would grow again:
bright yellow:
windhaven blush - mine is screaming chrome yellow, the brighest in the garden! may be a sport but i love it.
ken's gold - very bright clear yellow WL
Vista Lindsey
i love Narrows Tricia for a light soft yellow. would love more recommendations on that. soft yel blushed with mauve or pink would be pretty. I see one is shown above that looks good (ferncliff bliss). I'm always up for recommendations.
Have tried all manner of yellow and white bicolors. My favorite is still Fernridge Pride; mine may have froze this year as i didnt dig here in the northern reaches of the Pac NW; sad. I don't even know if growers offer it anymore. Wanting to try Osaka. Have tried: lemon cane, lemon meringue, korb's yellow hi lite
cutflowers are what interest me so i'm looking for good stems. Too many times I'm disappointed by short or floppy stems. Thanks for any thoughts on yellow dahlias
I have never seen Ken's Gold but it sounds like a good one. Vista Lindsey was super popular when first introduced. Windhaven Blush is an old one that I grew many years ago and liked as it was so vigorous. Narrows Tricia and Hamari Accord are look alikes and bit a bit difficult to grow for different reasons.
Yellow has not been popular recently but I still like it.
Clearview Daniel, the yellow ball is very popular. Fernridge Pride is an oldie we grew and I have not seen it in many tears. Popcorn is the best yellow and white bicolor of all but I bet you cannot find it(maybe Lindas Dahlias). Korbs Yellow Highlight makes more tubers than carters has pills. Visited Dan Korb's garden years ago.
Since you like yellow I can attach a picture of a yellow seedling without having you quickly closing the page:
seedling 17-22

I do have trouble selling yellows, but I enjoy having some in my garden. I like Ted's Hollyhill Lemon CHiffon/Buttermilk about the best. . I also like Ova Jo. with its white tips.
HH Lemon Chiffon was a very heavy bloomer here also. It seemed to always have about 2 dozen blooms at any given time. Ted, did you change its name to HH Buttermilk?
Next year we will sell it as HH Buttermilk and that was the original name. Lemon Chiffon is the name of an internet color that is a match to it's color.

When I think of lemon Chiffon it would be a sharper yellow, even with the air beat into it...Buttermilk seems a much more appropriate name for this soft creamy yellow. Of course, how many people are familiar with actual "buttermilk" now, or even an undyed lemon chiffon made from scratch?
