OK we are making progress. Somehow the computer lost a couple of little bits of in when I took off the 5000 phots from the last 2 seasons. They are now stored on the bottom of a page instead of most recent at the top, and not all there, but lets see what happens.
.. Sandia Sunburst "Sandia Sunbonnet"
This might be Bloomquist Tori P
Birch bay Danny Boy... Color breaks were unstable at our garden. One plant was solid.
They are anonymous until after judging. However I photographed the number markers, for which there are 3 plants each. When I have time I will go back through and "name" these with the numbers so we can get a handle on them.
Yes, I have probably a dozen of these picked out to follow, and only maybe 1/4 were in bloom yet. I will try to keep you all updated on them throughout the summer. I saw one section where a voice spoke in my head and said "Accent Dahlias" and another where I think I recognized a little friend growing in my garden. I haven't "Picked out" Birch Bay's area yet. It will be fun to guess!

We have a once a week work session where dis-budding is one of the chores. I haven't heard talk about "stopping" so I don't know about that part. Just as a guess, maybe they want to compare the natural form as part of the judging? I will ask about that. I know these workers are doing the "Stopping" in their own gardens.
Uggh , I keep telling myself I'm going to take a day or two off from garden and yard work , maybe go to bed early . Has not happened yet . Guess I'll have time for rest sometime around November. I feel compelled to soak up every darn drop of summer this year .
I like both of those, A LOT! The second one looks a lot like my new Narrows Marge. I picked it up at a club auction and its a wonderful vigorous plant I don't know how long it has been in commerce but its not new this year. ...this was just a first full bloom shot but I think the petals are more cactus now. I picked and gave away my more recent ones to a neighbor who dropped by. I think this was a first day shot and the petals became darker in the next days.
Name: Jon George Gainesville, FL ...crazy enough to grow dahlias in
Isn't it fun to see a bloom change form day after day. I had Camille Noel bloom yesterday and it looked nothing like the picture! Maybe if I gave it a day or two the petals will change....but I won't see it because I am traveling.
"What is a weed?" asked Peppa Pig. "A weed is a cheeky plant growing in the wrong place!" replied Grandpa Pig.
Nice, Noni. For those of us who aren't close to a trial garden, a real treat. If I had to pick just one of those, I think I'd go with the first one in Jon's photo. It'll be interesting to see what else is there. About how many do they have room for in that garden? Do they only have one of each or is it multiple plants, and if multiples are they all planted together or do they separate them? I'd love to know more about how they're scored and is it an average score if a breeder has the same variety in more than one trial garden.
