People love dahlias because of their color! Nice color on this one.

Once again, a color surprise as my dahlia blooms in your Florida heat. Yours is way more lavender...a much pinkier lavender. How tall is yours now, Jon? I think I have ended up with only 2 good plants here, so glad these others are doing well. I had 3 but one of them was suspect for disease and I didn't want to let the evil spread so up it came. The other two are growing nicely now but haven't started their upward surge yet. ON the other-hand, Cranberry Swirl, which is NOT a show flower but I think will be a fine cut flower with intense cranberry red cactus petals, I have something like 6 of them and could have planted a few more. And they are blooming.

Benny, I really like the color of your waterlily! I hope it does well and I can test it out here.

No blooms on the shared test dahlias ..except Linda's 2017 version of Beginner's Luck. (Its lovely and healthy!) Coral Shag Carpet and the one from Drew are coming along nicely...(Drew, I lost the tag with the name or designation for yours...what is it called or how is it described? I just put "Drews" on it. And I have the first of Candy's solid version of (my mind draws a blank! Its usually a butterscotch with white)) but I am calling it "Candy's Butterscotch". Its a yummy color No blooms on the Hollyhill test ones yet. I am delighted to have two of mine from last year showing their blooms and even prettier then last year...they are the white bb Salish Snow, and now Salish Cascades is opening. It is a very pretty lavender and white like shadows on snowy mountains or the pale evening shadows of our Cascade mountains in the distance. I'll try to photograph it tomorrow.

Noni, Calico Evening Glow is at about 5 feet now, but it looks like it will keep growing! Powerful stems! The world needs this one...please get it to the trial garden. Thumbs up

Evening Glow...is this its 3rd Year? I think so...that would make it eligible wouldn't it. OK, everybody who has it, make it grow lots of tubers! I am not likely to have enough from just my 2 plants this year. I should see if I can start some pot tubers by rooting cuttings under the drip tape. My plans for lots of Pot tubers in the ground got waylaid by all that is going on in our family this year.

Noni, I marvel every day at the vase of dahlias on our table with that C. Evening Glow. It really has presence. I don't know the show scene and how it would score, but it sure is a winner in my book!

Jon, it does my heart good to get reports like these! I don't know whether it will ever be a show flower either but I think it is a phenominal cut flower...just makes the most beautiful bouquets! Hmmm, think we should have Floret push it? Rolling on the floor laughing We both need to get busy on instagram or what ever sites and make cut flower people want it, LOL...

I just can't get into the "promoting via computer" aspect of the business...It keeps me hopping just managing my gardens and the helpers and running my household...I need an agent! My Wwoofer that left to get married...she was going to do the media stuff...oh that's right...she said she could do it even when she is not here...Once the honeymoon is over.

My Evening Glows are looking fine but haven't stated shooting skyward yet. They have a healthy batch of foliage at ground level though so I think they are gathering strength.

Can't wait for you to see Salish WIndstorm!

Its not near blooming here but Cranberry Swirl is. I picked the first one for market tomorrow. We will see what kind of comments it gets! I don't think this one was as messy as they were last year. The petals mostly swirled in the same direction and I kind of groomed the others into alighment with them. The color is deep and beautiful!

Totally loving Crazy4Carol! It fits in the tops of bigger bouquets and it solos well in small bouquets...And the color looks good with most anything.

Ms. Kennedy looks a lot like this in the shows as in order to show it, you have to pick it before it completely opens. It has a very short window of time where it is fully open (about an hour or two) and then the petals "shatter" meaning they fall off in handfuls from the back of the blossom. It is a seedling of Ginger Willo, a nice pom. Seedlings of Ms. Kennedy also shatter like their mother.

It has the outline of Myrtles Folly. Myrtle is now 101 years old and some of our club members visited with her a week or two ago. It usually has a bit more yellow in it but since the backs of the petals have the dark pink, it probably is Myrtles Folly.

There is a bit more yellow but it depends on the angle and lighting

That's neat that the club members visited with her .
