Your seedling looks very good in there. Nice picture.

Score with the Myrtle's Folly, Benny. Were these the Dutch tubers? The imported stuff is very healthy, but very often not what it's labeled as.

Benny, loving your seedling pic!

The imported stuff(Akita and Vancouver) were not healthy and I had to pitch them. Some imported stuff is healthy but just like all dahlia sources some of the stock is not healthy.

I'm thinking I may just have to run over to Pt Defiance this week...just to see what is happening! I'm going to guess that the nice anemone is one of the Boley's works, and probably one of the ones stolen and replaced a few weeks ago..so probably not in bloom yet. But that is all just my guess... Look at those nice long petals on the 2nd one! Really graceful!

Amanda , my favorite local nursery sells full grown dahlia in 3gal pots , they are started early indoors and when you dig the tubers they look like they started as a small clump . The nursery purchases them from a supplier of some sort , we picked up another laciniated but I have no clue what it is . They always have Kelvin Floodlight , Thomas Edison and Zoey Rey , the Bristol Stripe I purcahsed from them last season was quite nice but I believe I gave all the stock away , not sure I planted any this time around , but beware do not buy their Sir Alfred Ramsey haha it's some darned aweful little off pink laciniated thing that is what we will call " most unimpressive "
However , mislabeled dahlia from the nursery lead me to dahlia discussions on Facebook where I met CC and was invited to join this motley crew here on Cubits so sometimes things have a way of working out .

This bloom of Akita was one of my first ever and I was hooked

Akita is so cool. I hear it can be hard to grow, but the blooms make people keep trying! :) Most years I buy some imported. It usually works out.

Thumb of 2017-07-18/Islander/fc5645 I think this is the biggest Diva I have ever grown! Its a first bloom and formed the basis of my Monday bouquet. I included a Hollyhill Starburst , another first bloom of the season, and they new cupcake cosmos,Xanthos cosmos (soft yellow) as well as phlox, larkspur and oriental poppy pods. and on the back side, the best biggest Taratahi Ruby I have grown..new stock from Corralitos Gardens.

Me either, Geof! I'm trying to remember the history on this one...is it really Diva? Something in my memory says that I wasn't sure of the name last year, and asked a friend who grows Diva and she assured me that it was. But she is a very casual grower of dahlias, meaning that she does not have the passion for them that we do, and she is not that interested in the names of things.

I've had a few first blooms on Diva reach that size. Mine this year are not doing as well as previous years, even though I ordered new tubers from Swan Island.

My swan island diva tuber grew huge for me this year also. Benny if you don't mind telling me how much do they charge for potted dahlia plants. Around here they had just two types. They were charging $30 for them. At that price my garden is worth over $6000.
