This is the place to put those scrumptious images of other folk's gardens, whether it be a Trial, Show, or another grower's garden in 2017.

Thumb of 2017-08-03/Islander/90afaf I think Evening glow has stronger longer stems though...or did last year.

Thumb of 2017-08-03/Islander/36450e A true "dinnerplate"///its about 10" across and not very thick at all. Colors are gorgeous though...just guessing, maybe Swan Island?
Thumb of 2017-08-03/Islander/280c50 Intnese purple but looks like maybe the curse of the purples? If I remember right there was only this one bloom on the 3 plants...or maybe there were fewer then 3 plants...

So far, my favs are 52/58 (same pict, not sure of correct #), 23 and 49. The long stem on 49 looks sweeeeeet. Love the bright yellow inner, too. Look'n like I'm still stuck on cactus, for the most part.

It's a lovely garden, Viking. Do you belong to that society? I hope to show at both Long Island and Mid Island shows again this year.

I will have to miss the test garden this week. They changed the day on me because of a Dr Appt and I can't make it that day. There should be lots of changes by 2 weeks from now.

We enjoy breeding new dahlias!
We do not have many visitors to our gardens. We almost never put our garden on our club's garden tour.
Next week David Brown of the UK is visiting and the next day some dahlia people from Scandinavia. Are we on some "world tour?"
Very many people in our club have never been here. I should tell them to move out of the country and we will see about having them over.

It is fun talking to people who come through our garden in the park, but I bet you don't have the thefts going on that we do...nor the AA sized flowers used for basketball practice by ???

One must have to have a resilient spirit to run a dahlia garden in an open park. Kudos to you.

My kids did like it when I cleaned up old blooms and they could play baseball with them. It makes the most gorgeous confetti.

Instant image in my mind of my kids playing with the "Snowballs" from the Snowball bush in spring....It must be a universal childhood trait to think "Ball game" when they see round flowers.

Visited Swan Island to see our trial garden. I have not been there since I was the one crawling on the ground planting it. Many excuses but I made it there today. I took numerous pictures and did some judging. Here is a picture of the largest flower there and it is 12 inches in diameter.
Thumb of 2017-08-17/teddahlia/88412e
I will post more pictures later and am still going through them and labeling them.

I did talk to Nick Gitts and he brought out a bucket of flowers that will be in the next years trial garden. No pictures of those. The one that impressed me was a huge waterlily, about 7 inches in diameter with extremely large, cupped, rounded florets(translate that to indicate that it would be a show waterlily). It was a smoky pink that I would call a dusky pink and that would be popular for weddings and probably is one of the very many colors of Cafe' au Lait(recent picture on Facebook showed its numerous colors).

Noni: Is this the one at Tacoma?
