I really hope someone introduces a Sellwood Glory offspring that's way easier to store and looks very similar. That one is up at the top of my favorites list. Lovely pictures.
Swan Island introduced a Sellwood G. look alike called Uncle B. I saw it a year ago and it is very similar to Sellwood Glory. Here is link to the selection: https://www.dahlias.com/newuncleb-item013.aspx

This is black satin it should be about 4 inches across. This is the first bloom of the 2018 season for me. I am running about a month behind last year. This flower makes a great cut flower. We have had this flower in the collection for many years and is one of the wife's choice flowers.
I will have to keep a mental note on HH Tangerine. The wife loves orange dahlias. They remind her of the shoes from Spain I threw away some 40 years ago. But I love to make her happy so I will buy nice orange dahlias for our collection anytime.
My first bloom this year -Arabian Nights. It is my 1st year with this one (I stored my mom's tubers for the winter & she shared some with me). So far I am really happy with it!
It is! I lost a ton of tubers this past year to shriveling (I tried storing in pine shavings, but my basement must be too dry). But all of the Arabian Nights made it & looked very healthy. I didn't have the heart to cut my 1st bloom, but the stems are strong. It looks like it will be good in a vase.

My second time around with HH Paris it neat to see how vigorous it grows , we pinched out the early center bud forming early this week on both plants but it’s probably not necessary with this variety as it’s maybe 30†tall but has very pronounced laterals already at each node or section
HH Paris was from a hand cross of a very old miniature cactus called Dainty Miss with one of Boley's seedlings of Mary Jo.. Paris is very vigorous and productive but as far as showing it, the center pops 2 minutes before the judges get around to judging it. Sometimes it holds on long enough to win some nice prizes. I do not believe I have successfully shown a triple of it as always one flower pops center. If you grow it as cut flower, it needs to be picked at just past half open. The color is one of those that is currently popular.
