Is it possible that 2020 is the 10th anniversary of Growing Dahlias on Cubits? Happy Anniversary to the original members who have been here since the beginning!

Cool! I learned most of what I know about dahlias through discussions here and have met so many good friends! With the social isolation of being in a new community and self isolating to protect our vulnerable family members, the friendships and discussions are so important to me. I gain information, companionship and support. And I love a chance to pass it all on to new comers.

Good for the Dahlia Cubiteers! It is nice to have a little corner of the web where no one mentions politics. A happy balance of dahlia experts and beginners. I learn a lot here.

We enjoy breeding new dahlias!
No matter how long you grow dahlias, there is always something to learn. For example this year, I got to learn all about the Leafy Gall infections that people are getting in their dahlias. Oops, on a more positive note, we share information on new varieties and we all enjoy trying new dahlias.

Good call, Dilly! Looks like it is the 10 year anniversary of both Cubits and to this humble dahlia forum... Annie 'Poochella' started this forum with Edwit as a co-administrator ten years ago. After a prolonged absence from both the admins, I reached out to Poochella in 2014 and requested to be made administrator so I could 'clean up' the forum, and make it more user-friendly. Multiple moderators from the 'Active Member' group were deputized by me to assist in day-to-day maintenance (Benny101, blown_dry, DillyDahlia, PNWGal & teddahlia).

Poochella/Annie was my first dahlia mentor through many, many posts I found that she left on various forums on the web, detailing step by step instructions and with infallible enthusiasm for the dahlia. She also wrote to me a few times to help me through issues I was having with growing dahlias... Always positive, always kind.

As for her dahlia collection, she wrote to me in 2014, "I grow a few, but am past the dahlia madness in my life! It was good while it lasted though."

Poochella lived not that far away from me and when I really got excited about dahlias she came out to my place and brought me a bunch of tubers as well as making suggestions on my garden. I still remember that as one of the best days of my life! I felt so honored and supported and have used it as a role model in my dealing with other neophytes.

Steve, I echo your sentiments completely! I don't remember how I originally found cubits, but I was a new dahlia grower hungrily looking for information. I suspect it was through a post from Annie on a forum. I have felt at home since I landed! While I don't check in on a daily basis anymore, I do try and read the latest news. I met Ted at the National in Long Island a few years ago, and Tina shortly after she joined - as we are 'neighbors' (loosely speaking).

I am more likely to share many things with the Cubits crowd as compared to Facebook. You are all familiar to me and we have interacted for several years now.

I found this group looking for specific dahlia variety information 2 years ago. I hung out in the shadows for a while, but knew you guys were the right crowd to hang out with.

Good for the Dahlia Cubiteers!
Every flower must grow through dirt.
