Names of Colors Incorrect: The ADS does not want to issue another color chart as the contract with the vendor for the last one went over budget and the printer said they would not do it again. Apparently printing swatches of exact colors is difficult. I mention this because if the ADS were to change the name of several of the colors on the current charts, they would probably have to print a new chart. As with many older organizations, it is easier to keep "status quo" than make changes. They feel that it is a minor issue as they look at the color chart as just a guide for the placement of show flowers in the proper classes. In the bigger picture, dahlia growers(many more than dahlia show people) are more interested in having the flowers described accurately into "color names" that are familiar to us here in North America. As you remember the color chart originated in Great Britain where they have a different definitions of color than here.
We like to place a sign on our porch that says: We are in the garden. Really, we are always in the garden.
