I just read this article on NPR online. It seems the Chinese government has some intense policies in regards to regulating dogs and their potential for improper care and disease. A bit of an excessive 'all or nothing' policy, it seems. http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way/2011/08/03/138957434/chi... Please keep your comments civil or at least not personal, even though I know this will create some strong reactions. Some better news on the story above: http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way/2011/08/04/139005391/pet... It seems there was enough protest that dogs will be allowed to stay as pets.
