Hopefully, you will read this and other training guides before you get your new buddy, so you are prepared to start working with your friend right away. Either way, let us start working on some basic commands, and make sure you have a good start on maintaining a mutually enjoyable and fun relationship.

Over the years I have had a dog...usually raised from puppy hood and have taken the time to teach from the beginning...potty training through obedience...I have always thought that a well trained companion was a joyous partner to have. I don't like a dog to jump on me, or pull me when he is leashed for a walk. This is just bad manners. My dogs have always grown into good partners and behaved themselves around others.

OH, and your son looks like a good handler....

Keep up the good work

Thank you for reading. Skye is definitely showing the ability to handle dogs of all kinds in a positive way.
I don't like pulling and jumping, either, and will probably cover walking and heeling in my next training article (due out whenever I get to it). I still need to work with my own 2 on 'visitor' manners as they get very few visitors for me to work with, but it all is moving along very well.
