and the beloved Winston the pug
Winston the pug isn't a chewer unless he gets a real bone - then he chews so much I am afraid he will damage his teeth. I got him a couple of rawhides, but he didn't like them. He has food allergies, so I have to be careful with foods and treats. I finally found a dry food that agrees with him. I cook special food for him, but also give him some dry food to clean his teeth and gums.

I also brush his teeth. He has a couple of broken teeth that I have to keep an eye on. He broke a couple of toenails and teeth trying to get out of the cage when the rescue people were transporting him. Poor fellow. He must have had a difficult early life, but he is doing much better now. I have had him for a year this month.

He plays with his braided tuggy toy, but doesn't chew it. I don't have to worry about him ripping and swallowing threads and fabric. If your dogs are likely to rip and swallow toys, it may not be the best idea.
