I read in the "Treehugger" that Amsterdam is laying out some new bike paths known as SolaRoad. A layer of concrete, then solar cells, then a sturdy glass treatment will generate energy. The Dutch road network is 85,000 miles of roadway which generate 54 kWh (Kilowatts) per sq. yard of electricity. Energy produced from the road can be connected to a grid and used to provide electricity for street lamps, homes, businesses. Tip: there are 1000 Watt hours in a kWh.
