I am amazed at the lack of pollution emitted by our biomass plant. If you look at the white plumes arising from the stacks all you see is white steam that evaporates. There is no odor or ash sent into our air. They burn sawdust, bark, shavings and chips from the mills and greenwaste from yards and farms keeping it out of landfills. Even the ash produced is recycled! Using special screens, the high grade carbon ash is sold to a company that distributes it to companies that use it in filtration systems and other products. The remaining ash is trucked to farms and ranches to sweeten the soil. They have a place for residents to drop off yardwaste and woodwaste from their home projects free of charge. They accept any unpainted wood except plywood or particle board. It is amazing how much "trash" wood is dumped each week to be converted into electricity. All that "waste" that would otherwise end up in landfills. |

Thanks, Brenda, this is so good to hear! Really great! The biomass power plant must burn beyond efficiently. I wonder how that can burn that material with just steam being the bi-product? Where is this plant? State or Province? The whole concept of waste is being revolutionized. In a way, there is no waste. Just possibilities for energy. "There are only two ways to live your life. This one is in Scotia,CA and has earned several clean air awards over the years. Now there are rumors they will be upgrading the facility to operate even more efficiently under it's new owners who now have three of these plants and are investing in our future and in other sources of clean, renewable energy. |

Very good to hear it's a growing enterprise. Looks like there is definitely a need and people are utilizing the energy/concept. Keep us posted! For lots of reasons I think California is a leader in alternative energy sources. They have lots of legislation in place that encourages and demands innovation.
