This is very interesting to me. I worked in a data center for about 4 ½ yrs. Energy backups systems are important. When I read this short article I was thinking of all the energy directed to running a data center. But, here, DARPA is asking for new ways to conserve energy for military in war zones. Logic suggests that whatever they discover, whatever is successful is transferable to a utility.
