We're missing this conference! This must be a conference loaded with entrepreneurial inspiration and sweat! Having worked in venture capital I really admire those who have their dreams and ideas and dare to devote their lives and money to developing their products. http://www.windpowerexpo.org/se_public_hours.cfm "There are only two ways to live your life. I think I need to go to that next year. I actually took a turbo-machinery design course (long ago) in college and while I forget most of the material, I still have some ideas that might be germane to the field. I'm also wondering when they will have domestic wind turbines that one can place on an urban property without violating seventeen thousand ordinances. And when the US forest service will allow installation of wind turbines in alpine forest areas. |

There are options for residential use. I would imagine it will take time for municipalities, neighborhoods, HOAs, to allow residential wind turbines. There is recently lots of controversy re the "details" that come with wind turbine installations.... birds crashing into the blades, noise in populated areas. My thought is that if an HOA can't even allow a flagpole to be installed (opposition due to perceived chain clanking in winds) we may be a long time before a residential wind turbine is allowed in the 'hood. http://cubits.org/EnergyAndPower/thread/view/54908/ I haven't looked into the policy of the U.S. Forest Service, or Parks, or Dept of Interior policy on installation of wind turbine "farms" but, like I said.... there's lots of controversy around wind turbines in general.
