Hello, everyone - I have to chime in about bread. Bread is good, tastes good, and is good for you - the staff of life, remember. What is not so good is pasty, mushy white bread with all nutrition removed and then slathered with high fat mayo, butter, etc. with also no nutrition. Try some substantial whole wheat bread (actually has flavor) and eat plain or with something like peanut butter. Now - having said that - I admit to loving mayo with tomato on tomato sandwiches - it has to be Duke's mayo, of course!

I really like pumpernickel bread, and it's extremely low in calories. If you like avocadoes, you can mash 'em and use them instead of butter or mayo. Drooling

I agree about bread being good for you - really enjoy the types you can find in breadmaker recipe books! Very interesting and healthy!! Thumbs up

I have a breadmaker bought about 20 years ago from QVC. It was branded "Pillsbury" for QVC and must have been one of the early models made. I have used it many, many times - sometimes with mixes and usually from scratch recipes. We love it. The only problem is that when bread comes out of it - hot and fragrant- it cries out for some butter and a cup of coffee - RIGHT THEN. It is hard to resist slathering on the butter! My two favorite recipes are golden cheddar/mustard bread (from a Gold Medal Bread Machine cookbook) and a peanut butter/raisin/oatmeal recipte. It is too easy to eat too much at a time with stuff like that.

I've made PB& J bread (great for picnics!), Sun dried tomato bread, lots of herb type breads, and always with grain flour! dieting CAN be tasty. Drooling
As for wanting it with butter, hot from the breadmaker - I can relate Whistling Rolling on the floor laughing

WB!! I have no idea what I would weigh in at.......... however, when I feel like I'm down quite a bit, I'll weigh myself. May just scare myself too! Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing
All I'm feeling like eating in this heat is light and cool. Whistling
Just finished coming back from a Stampede BBQ lunch - potato salad, cole slaw, brats, hamburgers (no buns for me!), and roast suckling pig! Lots of empty calorie punch, too. I was outside grilling, and in that heat, I wonder what my "exercise" content would be. There's nothing for "cooking at a BBQ for an hour, flipping burgers" in the Exercise section, so trying to figure out what it would be "like". Ears perked up!
On Saturday I served pancakes, also outside in the sun. - from 8am to 10:30. I was standing and dancing-in-place to the live music - it was so much fun. Of course after 2 1/2 hours of standing and "jigging" my knee was giving out, so had to sit down. Again - how many calories doing that exercise?? Ears perked up!

My husband was just saying the other day that his appetite was not as good with the hot weather...I don't seem to have that problem Grumbling

I know it is hard to figure a lot of activities for calorie burning. Maybe for the little "jig" with the music I would do it as aerobics but cut the time down?

Did you get a break in the heat the last few days? We have been back in the 80's and it feels pretty darn good!

So, by the way we had some Canadian license plates at the reunion this weekend...they were a bit of a ways from home. (I think they brought the cooler weather with them Smiling )

It's 91 here now, and has been for the past several days (except for Wed when it hailed!!)
The breaker "popped" on our a/c at home and I can't reach it to pop it back on........well, Bob should be home soon.......

The power went off at work (cuz everyone in the city has their a/c on!!) and we were evacuated after 10 minutes........ then they said it would be an hour before we could go back into the building. 1 hour in the heat and concrete parking lot?!?! NOT!

Aerobics? What a good idea - will try that next time. It was 91F on Sat & Sun, and I was out there for hours....... should have put "Aerobics" for then, too............
