When it's so hot and you're sweating bullets, you should really drink some Gatorade, or if you just want the electrolytes, drink Powerade Zero. The grape is pretty good, and NO calories or sugar.

I's baaaaa-ad........ I had a pepsi float........ it's so hot here (for us anyway - we're not used to it!), and it's only 80F today, I think.........
well, I guess we're all allowed to "fall off the wagon" now and again..... promise I won't do it again in the foreseeable future.........
I'm usually able to withstand ice cream and all its sugar and fat. My true downfall is Pepsi though.
However, I really walked alot today, and helped my DH at the Landfill, throwing away a mattress, boxspring and some old patio furniture....... so used some muscles. I'd better check to see if this "balances". Whistling

phew....... with the stepper, and my other exercise, I'm actually 111 under my caloric goal....... Hurray!
I should do more stepping though - it helps me to sleep when I do some mild exercise before bedtime.... Whistling

I slacked off a bit today with exercise - we did go for our walk at 7:30 AM (3 miles), but no WII machine exercise and no gardening. It's Sunday (even retired folks can take a day off, can't we)! I was expecting to have to water twice, but a storm finally came through and showered a bit - that took care of the hanging baskets even if it did little for the woods and main garden. Anyway I decided to call it an off day and just try not to eat as if it is a holiday. Back to the routine tomorrow (Mondays are still my least favorite day) after so many years of working. Susan, I know you will be thrilled to have to go to work on Mondays, for a while at least. But I expect that feeling will wear off as time goes by and you will look forward to the weekends again.

My neighbour came by to ask me to join her and her DD for a bike ride........... they'd teach me to ride they said. I don't think (wait - I KNOW I wouldn't) I would do well with an audience watching me learn, and the multitude of opinions telling me what to do....... nervous enough about riding without a consortium telling me how to ride!!!
My teacher is going to teach me after the Stampede is over (mid-July) and I'm happy to wait. I've waiting for many years, and although I KNOW I will learn this summer, I want someone qualified in teaching "old people" Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing
Both my neighbour and her DD are opinionated (nicely so........) but still, I will learn, but when I'm not nervous.......

I'm not quite clear how someone teaches you how to ride a bike (seriously). At some point you probably have to just get out on a flat open space (like a nice parking lot) and keep trying until your body catches the balance point. Once you catch it, you are good to go. But I guesss there must be some techniques to teaching or people would not be doing it. Let us know what sort of things a teacher does or implements. Instead of a "Consortium" watching, you will have all of DG and Cubits watching! How reassuring is that!!

I know how I learned.... walked my brother's 27" bike over to our welltop, climbed up on the seat and rode down a little hill behind our garden until I could do it without falling off. I was only 12 and the bike was way too big for me, but Mom couldn't afford a girl's bike so I either had to do with or do without. Thing was, since it was a boy's bike, I had to learn to lean it over when I started falling off or stopped as the center bar could hurt a person... Blinking
I was so bound and determined to learn to ride one that I kept it up until I could ride around the yard. But I never let anyone (that I knew of) watch me, I was too embarrassed to let someone see me fall off or get hurt. When my cousin let me try out her new pretty pink girls bike, I couldn't ride it because that bar wasn't there!!! Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

Good luck with your lessons and get one of those gel seats that professional riders use, they are 'seat savers'... Thumbs up

I have a gel seat. One of the reasons I want someone who's trained others before (and I never thought of it that way until you said it) is that I DON'T want someone I know watching me and making judgements on how I'm doing.... Thanks for putting it the way I meant it, Kathy!! Whistling
ow & ouch....... yes that bar could hurt a person BADLY!!! Blinking

Walk in Peace.
We had a road in front of our house . Walked my bike out and road down the little hill, yep, just had to learn to balance so I wouldn't tip over. Never got great but I could ride after awhile.
I don't like boy's bikes either.

Susan - you be careful about that bike. Since you are starting a new job tomorrow, it would be ironic for you to fall off a bike, get hurt, and not be able to work!

I don't have ROOM for one or I would........
However, I have someone who's trained in teaching adults, so I feel better about it!
Yes, It would be bad, and I'm getting raucous teasing about it here, and it's all in good fun Rolling on the floor laughing

I'm not sure where I would put one either, but I sure would like to have one. Is Bob going to ride with you? My Ex decided he would buy both of us new bikes when our boys were old enough to have their own, so we could ride as a family... We used to take them to the State Park when we camped, but he worked so much, that wasn't but a couple times a summer. We lived in the country, and could ride the side roads around our 'country block', just had to learn where all the dogs lurked.. plus 3 of the roads were all gravel, very dusty in the summer!

WhooooooWeeeeee!!!! That is great.
Went for a walk yesterday morning on my path I had cleared out. We have some wind and a little rain the day before. Guess what??? My path is blocked again. I phone the electric Co. They sent some guys out to cut limbs but the limbs are RIGHT ON MY PATH!!!! so the Chihuahuas and I have to go out on road. I didn't want to do it. But hopefully we will get it cleaned up. Oak tree. Weather has been so dry and trees are so brittle... but I've lost a couple pounds since I started... Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!
