Ah, but we know some things we've learned the hard way, over the years............
1. Never spray bug spray inside a tent - it weakens the material, and will actually eat away at the tent.
2. Always buy a "bathtub floor" tent. It's one that has the seam about 5" above the ground, Not at ground level.
3. Put a tarp down before you set up the tent , and don't let it extend beyond the tent (roll it underneath itself at the edges of the tent), or you're just asking for water to flow between the tent and the tarp.
4. Waterproof it every year, and when you're finished each outing, make sure it's dried before you put it away. If you can't do it at the campsite )raining?!), make sure it's done as soon as you get home.

We have a great tent - it's a Cabin tent, that my 6'3" DH can walk everywhere in.
A couple of years ago, it rained so hard that our tent got a pond on top, and it actually got low enough to touch my shoulder as I was sleeping (18" plus my width, as I sleep on my side.......). We reached up and the water rolled off, then it was ok and sprang back up!.
Rolling on the floor laughing the next day, four 20'ish young men who'd come the day before in their little volkswagon beatle left, cuz they couldn't handle the weather in a tent, while we "seasoned" camping veterans stayed Rolling on the floor laughing

No rain for the setup of the tent, nor for the setting up inside! We got everything in before we heard the "Boom, Boom" of approaching rain. Rained for 40 min (with a break in the middle) and then not again all weekend!
Got lots of exercise carrying coolers, boxes, setting up the tent, etc on Friday, and then on Sunday, did it in reverse!
Whew - what a great lot of exercise!!

This coming weekend I will learn to ride my bike!!!! I'm really looking forward to it, and now that I've lost the 20 lbs, I should be in better shape for it. Still want to lose another 50 lbs though.......

And on the long weekend we're going camping again (Friday Aug 3, 4, 5, and leave on the 6th!!). Really looking forward to it! Maybe I'll bring my bike................ Big Grin

Sounds great Susan. Camping with all the set up and take down, is a workout for sure. But I love being outdoors.

Tomorrow, at 1pm, I'm going to take 3 hours of lessons on how to ride a bicycle!!! A bit nervous, but the teacher is experienced, so I'm going to be fine. Just have to think about bike shorts and gloves....... have several bikes to choose from, plus a helmet! I'll be fine, but will fill you in on the details afterwards........ Big Grin Rolling my eyes. Thanks Susan. I am still going at least 2X a week. I have a new part time job to add to my schedule in mid August, so it will take a little more shuffling at that point. But it'll give me a nice excuse to NOT go to the 8 30 class- I'm not one of those get up and go get um people... Big Grin

So yeah tell us more after the bike class! Good for you! I've ridden a bike but am not very comfortable with it. I'm tall and feel like its a long way down if something goes wrong Blinking Course with my new stronger self I might feel better.

My DH had a bad bike fall 2 yrs ago so our interest in biking as a possible couple-activity took a huge nose dive with his lower interest in any biking, ---and trashing the bike he and I used to take turns with!.

My DS has become quite a biker. He's ridden a lot this summer to/from work.

worries?! what worries? I know I will be in good hands - after all, she's a trained instructor, and at $75 for 3 hours, she'd better be Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing
Sally - I understand how difficult it must be for your DH to get back on a bike. My suggestion is to get a cheap bike for yourself, and ask your DS to join you. No need for you to lose out on a fun exercise cuz of your DH!
My ex-hubby is the reason why I haven't tried to rid for 30+ years...... after my bad fall, he said I should "never ride again!!" guess he was startled/scared at how badly I banged myself up.
anyway, I now feel free enough to do it without any interference from any man, neighbour, or friend!! When my neighbour / friend said "you'll never ride a bike, you're too scared" I thought "well, it sure doesn't help to have an audience!" I finally said it 3 hours later, to his wife and daughter, and his daughter said I should have told him to leave and go home Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing
Well, tomorrow afternoon is IT, so I WILL ride a bike, so There, to all the "nay-sayers" Thumbs down

phew........... 3 hours of walking up hills, coasting down hills (without pedals, no less), and learning about helmets, the ABC check before riding, and all about bike holders for cars, and chains, etc.........
very warm out today, and kept flopping into shade and drinking iced tea with lemon........ Drooling
I got "95% there" in learning. Whistling
When she put pedals on, all I could think was..... "watch my balance, steer, AND pedal - yikes!)
I "hit the wall" and couldn't get the pedalling right - either they were behind my leg and I couldn't get my foot backwards, or I could get one foot on and not the other........ after 2 1/2 hours I was tired, and couldn't do anymore.
I will be practicing this week, in the same park, with Bob - he was there the whole lesson, so he knows exactly "where" I am with this. I hope by next weekend I will be well and truly riding my bike Whistling Big Grin

Thanks, Dorothy!!! How are you, btw?

Maridell - of course I will!!

My instructor sent me the other 2 ladies' emails so I can get in touch with them, and do some practicing. One of them must live close to me because of where she would practice. Also, my instructor gives secondary lessons for those who have progressed to a certain point and want to practice with her assistance, more. Whistling Big Grin

They always say--it's like riding a bike...It will come back.. That sounds like a lot to absorb in one session. Sticking tongue out

Well, seeing as how I never learned to ride before, once I do it will be "like riding a bike" Big Grin

Has anyone here used the "ifit" workout system?

It's a SD card you can plug into your exercise bike or treadmill to guide your through a exercise program. There are different levels you can buy 1 - 6. I think it's an 8 week program. It by Jillian Micheals

Never heard of it. I suppose if you go to a gym, they likely have the "plug in" types of bikes.
