I too have a small nursery. Here in Central Florida. I have 11 acres and for most of my life have trained horses, given riding lessons, and showed horses professionally. My "other" obsession has been gardening which up until a few years ago always had to take a back seat to the very demanding Equestrian career I had which required A LOT of travel, leaving me little time for but a few treasured plants. Now I can pursue my other passion, and specialize is Tropical Sages (Salvia's) Butterfly Host plants, Hummer plants and LOTS of different vines. We have a small greenhouse, and being in Central Florida can for the most part garden year round. I grow a few herbs, and a veggie garden for our personal use too. LOTS of readily available compost from the horses which we put to good use. Right now I just sell plants within the state, seeds on ebay and (DG) but hope to be able to ship my plants before long. It's just me and my "SO" which keeps up very busy ! I've already picked up a few hints ( mixed flats of herbs) so I'm really looking forward to the knowledge to be gained here! Whoo Hooo! Below, one of my favorite Salvia's... Bog Sage ( a great one for Florida!) |

Nice to meet you MJ, Starting a business is very exciting. I have learned a wealth of things starting mine 3 years ago and am learning still more as I transition to a new state and morph into a different area of horticulture field. I am hoping to entice some folks who may have knowledge in the area of floriculture into this cubit and grow it as well as I grow my garden. ![]() |
