Hurray! that is so awesome!!

tell your daughter to take the chantix with food. I had an upset tummy at first, but as soon as I learned that tidbit...it went away. Also, make sure shes taking the doses 12 hours apart. if she takes sooner, it may upset the tummy.

i read the herbal article. if chantix doesnt work for hubby I just may switch out his cigs with the herbs without telling him! Hilarious! Whistling

She does wait until after she eats. I think her biggest problem is though that she drinks lots of energy drinks, rather than eat. Then she will eat maybe one meal a day. That's not enough food in her system. But she's not going to give up those energy drinks no matter how much I get on to her about them.

Oh your husband will know. Trust me.... the taste is much different. I happened to like it. And I feel much better about what I'm smoking too!

aw shucks! well I guess I'll have to tell him....right after I hide his checkbook and ATM cards Whistling

did your daughter step-up on the chantix? or start taking a full dose right away? I've heard some people were prescribed 2 mg a day right off the bat and they got sick. I had a step-up program .5 a day for a few days then .5 am and .5 pm then 1mg am and 1mg pm. I know its a new program and some docs prescribe differently. I wish I would have seen the herb article first. I hate taking meds, my body doesnt digest them like most people. So I was really hesitant to take a pill, and herbs seem a more easier way especially for my body. I was just desperate enough that I was willing to risk another bout of kidney disease just to quit the cigs though! Seemed like a fair enough trade off for me Hilarious!

I honestly don't know how hers was prescribed. She hasn't said that much about it. Except to rag on me because I still smoke (the herbs). I don't smoke around her though, and I've gotten to where I can wait quite a long time in the morning before I feel the urge to go outside to smoke. We haven't smoked in the house in many years.

Very true! We have a garage where we go to smoke, but it's still cold out there in the winter. Well, cold to me, anyhow.

Not that this will halp with cigarettes, but it is funny.

Many many years ago we met a guy who smoked a pipe. A habit his wife really disliked. Here's how she got him to quit. She claims she secretly put tiny bits of toenail clippings into his tobacco. He started complaining about how it just didn't taste as good as it used to. They moved about then, so I never found out how the story ended. Did he quit? Did he find out? Are they still married? I do not know!

HA! I really have no idea. But I do remember that she was the type A personality and he was quite passive. My guess is, he quit.

I'm responding just because I want to watch this thread easily and to know more on your progress and insights. I really LIKE to smoke and while I am quite disciplined on other health issues, like exercise and diet...I just really LIKE to smoke. I AM feeling it though; my dawg knows where we have to stop on our walks for a little while, at the top of a hill, before going on, so I stretch and breathe more and he pees on the post there....then we move on. I promised myself and him when I got him that I would outlive him because it just wouldn't be fair not to. The smoking issue is less of a money issue for me because I really don't go out to eat or spend money on recreation and am pretty frugal lots of ways. The plants, yes, I DO spend on them, but they provide an opportunity for exercise. I AM surpirzed to see Anjl and Brinda here though!...thought you were BOTH pristine in yer ways! Hilarious!

Hi Jamie,

Welcome! I'm still smoking "weeds" instead of tobacco. Time to give that up as well though. No sense in exchanging habits. I've smoked a few of hubby's "real" cigarettes and they taster horrible to me now. I do it to remind myself to never go there again.

I can definitely feel the difference in my breathing.

Hi Janet. My current problem is that I have a ton of paperwork. My mom died in January and I am the executor. Since she was sick for a long time, I am not only filing extensions for taxes, but am teathered in a quagmire of medical statements...spending days trying to match charges with payments over various dates and institutions when no one codes things similarly is enough to fill many ashtrays. PLUS....because she was in and out of various facilities, over seasonal change, I have all of her stuff stored here in arrangement so I could always provide what she needed. My house is so full of hanging boxes of her clothes and personal items, basement full of furniture (expecting that she would move from her apt. to some facility and NOT die) so that I can not either organize or clean properly. Crying

Your method does have appeal and I plan to find out more about your rolling and your weeds as soon as I have this mess organized. When the weather permits, my plan is to rent a pod and hire some eye candy to move everything out of the downstairs and basement, then clean & paint the whole interior and only move the things back in that I really want. That should be good inspiration not to smoke indoors anymore. Hurray!

Jamie, I so feel for you! I have the same piles of paperwork staring at me daily. (and I've not even started on taxes yet) My problem is that when my Mom died, I was so depressed that every time I would sit down to do paperwork, it would ruin my day and I would just walk away. Making myself take care of her estate has been one of the hardest things I've ever had to do, except for dealing with her death. I just never knew it would be like this.

I am so much like you, I like to smoke and giving it up isn't something that I look forward to. But I know that I really need to stop smoking for myself and my family. That is something that I really plan to do after all this paperwork is taken care of.

Here's wishing you the best in your 'quit smoking' adventure!

I am determined to make a totally unrelated business person executor of my estate; I too had to deal with the unexpected and early death of a much loved friend AND then dealing with his estate. It did not help the grieving process one bit to pick his life apart financially...

Well, Anjl & Brinda....perhaps I was mistaken!...I should tell you about plans for "WomanFire" then! Hilarious!
