There is a large Greek Community in S/W Ohio.
That's where the Cincy Chili originated BTW.

From my Grandfather Thomas comes this Keftedes recipe.
Keftedes mean quite literally Meatball in Greek

2 slices stale bread crumbled fine

1 medium Onion chopped fine

1 pound Ground Chuck or Ground Lamb (at the RU I used 1/2 and 1/2)

4 Eggs or 1 Egg and 4 Egg Yolks

1 1/2 tsp (heaping) dried Mint or 1 tsp fresh Mint

3 ( 8oz) cans Tomato Sauce

1 1/2 cans (tomato cans) water

2-4 tsp White Vinegar (depending on how tart you want the sauce)

2 Sticks Salted Butter
Mix ingredients, if possible chill overnight.

Roll into meatballs (about Ping Pong Ball size)

Roll in Flour and a bit of Black Pepper.
The salt in the butter should be enough.

Melt Butter in Electric Skillet or Large Frying Pan

Brown Meatballs

Remove from skillet LEAVE drippings.

Add sauce, simmer until slightly thickened.

Add meatballs back to skillet and simmer until thickened.

Serve warm or excellent reheated the next day

Freezes well.
