I found a hat I liked, but no faces out there, so, I drew the rest and added some bling. It needs grouting. I may work on the frame also with some wood burning to give it some pizzaz..Thumb of 2012-01-14/Gourd/bab3a3

When I was younger, we took pine boards and burned the grain with a propane torch and then a clear poly for shelves with beer cans for legs. Oh the good old days. I can see if with a nice dark stain too. NEW ITEMS LISTED - MOST UNDER $10

Hello Jan and Lavonne,
I am missing Spring right now.. wanting to grow something. It's good to see/talk to you guys too.

I haven't burned the frame yet, but did grout everything.

Red Hat Poem

My hat I wear with great aplomb
It makes me feel so bolder
For though I've passed the '50' mark
I don't feel any older
Than when I was a sweet young thing
Just barely out of my teens
And wearing out my platform shoes
And wide bell bottom jeans
But now I have a purple frock
It really is a shocker
All finished off with 'Big Red Hat'
With ostrich feather topper
I know the colours really clash
To me, it does not matter
I'm proud to say, I'm in the club
I'm a 50 plus 'Red Hatter'

Red Hatter Poems

When I am an old woman I shall wear purple
With a red hat which doesn't go, and doesn't suit me.
And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves
And satin sandals, and say we've no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I'm tired
And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells
And run my stick along the public railings
And make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
And pick the flowers in other people's gardens
And learn to spit.

You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat
And eat three pounds of sausages at a go
Or only bread and pickle for a week
And hoard pens and pencils and beermats and things in boxes.

But now we must have clothes that keep us dry
And pay our rent and not swear in the street
And set a good example for the children.
We must have friends to dinner and read the papers.

But maybe I ought to practice a little now?
So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised
When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple
