It grows and develops all winter. It will start sending up shoots sometime in...June? Not sure precisely. Those you cut as soon as they get their curl. (yummiest vegetable ever!! but harvest before it gets hard!!) That leaves more growing energy for fattening up your garlic. It comes up when it starts drying at the neck, I believe. July around here. Then hang or sun for a bit and you are good to go!!

Finally just got my garlic planted a few weeks ago. It is up and growing very nicely. The elephant garlic bulbets I traded for were duds. I found some at Wally World. $3 for 3 cloves in a bag. Huge rascals. I bought a bag and planted them about a week or so ago. I am excited about them. I planted my hardneck garlic 2" apart. The lephant garlic was 3 bulbs to a 1 foot square.
