Fertilizer? Bigger pot? Outdoors? Indoors? How big will it get? Living room with wood stove too hot for it? When does it flower? |

It seems to be very happy. They tend to bloom when pot bound. They can get huge but it takes a while. Outdoors in the summer in bright shade. Fertilize when growing. It is a nice healthy, happy plant!! |

Thank you 3g. It was purely accidental. I put it in this pot last May with new MG potting soil. I can't tell you how happy I am to finally know what it is. I have been looking and couldn't find it in houseplant books, but now I know maybe it is because it can be grown outdoors too, huh? I am moving to zone 6 this Summer so I will probably keep it as a house plant. I loved it for the leaves, but knowing it might flower is blowing my mind! Thanks for all the info. |

It probably won't bloom until the roots are really reallly reallllly tight in the pot. I grew one in a 4" pot for 6 years...bloomed all the time!!! Then I moved it to a 5"! Leap. The net will appear. |

LOL, well I put it in this pot last May, it seems to like it, even though you I shouldn't upsize it should I take it out every year and repot with fresh soil in the same pot? |

If it needs it. Hoyas root in crotches of trees, on a patch of moss, in an old birds' nest and put out their root not only for stability but to get moisture and water. They intake water/nutrients from their roots and leaves, and even the little 'advanticious' roots like lacunosa. That's why when it is humid, even if it doesn't rain, the hoyas climbing in the trees are fine!!! and I might hose them down from time to time. So...as long as the roots can get moisture and nutrients, they really don't need fresh medium. Careful, because when the roots get really tight in the pots, it is hard to get moisture to them...the only reason for refreshing...You can also trim the roots so they will fit nicely back in the pot.... I know the Swedes do this... Leap. The net will appear. |
