After 13 years online, Cubits.org is scheduled to be shut down. Please make sure you have the contact information for all your friends, and that you download whatever content you want from this site.
Name: Carol Noel Hawaii (near Hilo) It's all about choices.
I have put up an Aloha Hoya Cubit. DH is really too busy to maintain my catalogue and I have so few plants left (under 100!!) so I will post them on Aloha Hoya as their IDs come along. Winding down my business, hopefully this will be the last year...but I will continue to collect and love them!!! It just has become so much work maintaining a Certified Nursery in Hawaii with all of the invasive species and little muscle to deal with them other than requiring the Nurseries to go all out.
heh heh... 'blush'
Cheers Carol, not looking too bad yourself, my dear.:))
So, does this signal the death of DG ? Lot of info on that site, will any of it, plant files, stickies etc be transfered over or re built from scratch?
I don't think anything can be transferred from DG because Dave doesn't own DG anymore and has no control over there ... so Plant Files, Bird Files etc. etc. now belongs to the new owners of DG. Hopefully we can build another type of PF here. I was thinking it would be nice to have a Hoya Plant File attached to this cubit and a PF for each particular plant at that cubit location. With all the folks involved here I bet we could do it! But, I don't really know what I'm talking about so don't pay any attention to me if it all sounds far fetched! :)
Ive often wondered if anything could be set up in this manner...?
A plant species name is allocated...say H Lacunosa. A cubit location is made for that designated plant, then all material, rightly or wrongly designated to that particular plant/species, is put there, and if necessarily debated from that cubit.
So, a link to H lacunosa, then a seperate link to H breviata and so on, and everyone uploads to that species' particular cubit what they think belongs to that designated space. Photos, descriptions, files, collection data, original herbarium material etc, kinda like a pool of what everyone knows and thinks they have about each specific species. Kinda opens up the dabate a little more and gives everyone access to everyone elses data....kinda wikihoya..... Could be the same for many other plants too, not only hoyas
Name: Lee Anne Stark Ontario, Canada Perpetually happy!
Consider it done!
I can set up a forum with the appropriate name and we can designate a thread to each individual Hoya with it's pertinent info. in that thread.
Way to go Lee Anne ... that will be wonderful! Can they somehow be arranged and re-arranged, as different ones are added, so they are in alphabetical order? Or, is that something for the future as the site grows?
