They're adorable Doug! How old is your plant?

Three years Christine. I really thought that this plant was never going to bloom.

Laura, I received it as IML#0968, but it does not resemble the description in the Liddle catalog. The leaves are not furry as described but very smooth. I do not find this plant to be an easy Hoya to grow at all. Since I took that bloom photo, I have had to restart the plant twice. I'm wondering if it might be another good candidate for semi-hydro like davidcummingii is. I never could grow davidcummingii before, and now with S-H, it is just covered with blooms.

I've taken the attitude that any hoya that doesn't like my compost/watering regime goes semi hydro, and so far (touch wood) it seems to have worked.

My megalantha suddenly started losing leaves a month back, so I've repotted it with fresh compost, but taken a cutting for insurance. (SH of course).
The hoya sp Ovalau Island that only had one leaf left has also been transferred to SH.
The final leaf fell off, so I replanted a bare twig. It currently has a new shoot appearing.
I figure I've nothing to loose and everything to gain Smiling

Doug: I wouldn't say mine is furry either. But it's been really easy. I have it in 1/2 chunky orchid bark & 1/2 hydroton (on the bottom) and it's in an "eco friendly" biodegradable pot, that's plastic but porus at the same time...

Julie: I agree Nothing to lose. It puts it into survival mode, I think.

There is no doubt that it is a very cute Hoya, and that is why I have not wanted to give up on it. The plant is doing ok right now, but one more turn for the worst, and will try either S-H or your mix Laura.

Oh! I'm flattered, Doug. Hilarious!
It's still in the same mix I rooted it in...

Only had it for couple months, but it's growth is amazing!
It seems to like to grow additional leaf pairs on already leaved nodes, giving me what looks like 4 leaves at a node! I'll have to snap a picture...
Do you find it's leaves to be a bit like wood chips? With dark edges?

(EDIT: NO dark edges!! )

Hey laura It dose not sound like you are taking about picta.Picta has pale green color leaves and don't get a red rim.It sounds a bit like you might have ds-70 or one like it.But do show as a photo.
I also find picta a bit difficult to grow. For the last year it has been trouble free but feel at any given time it could just up and die.Thumb of 2011-09-27/cpawl/930e4c
Dose yours look like this.

This plant used to be huge.It came home with me on one of my Thailand trips and all I have left is this small pot.In the past I have had to restart this plant many many times. It is good now and I hope it stays happy.I do not let it get to dry and check it often.

It is funny Cindy; I seem to have the opposite problem - it seems like I alway did it in by overwatering it. I now keep it very dry. I guess we all agree on one thing; it is not an easy Hoya.

IML# 0968 aff. picta Sumatra
Unless it came from Liddle's tagged wrong? Grown in high light.

Wonder if I'm thinking of my IM# 0231 bilobata (DS128) w/ the red edge.....
Probably b/c I got them @ the same time Rolling my eyes. Don't mind me...
Yeah, actually I think so.. Whoops. *Blush* Glad they're all tagged! Srsly!

I think the picta gets somewhat "discoloured" in high light. Spotty on backs of leaves?
It does seem to grow well for me & I grow it on the dry side!!

List is getting long of things I must photograph! Sticking tongue out

Laura - I tried these, and none of my hoyas liked them. It could be my compost/watering - but I ended up repotting the lot after nearly losing them.
