Yes, Laura it was a dischidia put out by Exotic Angel called "Pebble Beach". I have since killed it Sad I seem to do really well with most dischidia for a while then they descend into a death spiral Confused I still really like them and will pick one up when available.

Thanks for your honesty, Doug! I tell PG all the time, I don't do well with many things, I just don't broadcast my failures....

Dee, the one on the left was serpens. I gave that one away after it gave me just one too many disappointments. I do however have a smaller one that I am going to make bloom if it kills me Big Grin

Alka, it only flowered once for me (Picture Below) I then transplanted the nice plant pictured and I rotted the roots off. I managed to start the plant over and hope to flower it again this summer. It is not an easy grower for me. Come to think of it every plant in the photo above came to a bad end. I think they were jinxed Blinking Thumb of 2012-03-20/HoyaDoug/fe8da3

Same here Doug - and so far so good, the little 'bit' I had left doubled in size last year (not difficult considering how small it was Rolling on the floor laughing ) , and has made it through the winter unscathed. I see new shoots starting to grow. May be a couple of years yet before its big enough to flower, and it MAY kill me in the mean time!! Big Grin

Julie,

Every day, I take my serpens and find the coolest place in the house to leave it for the day. I also examine the peduncles continually to see if there is any bud swelling. I'm just a little bit obsessive about it Whistling

I don't have any peduncles on my scrappy wee bit of serpens - but I have been examining peduncles on other plants .....just to see if there's any movement. Rolling on the floor laughing
I think we're all nuts!!! Blinking Hilarious!

I found buds forming on buotii!! Did you hear me squeaking in Vermont?
Unfortunately, I have moved all the plants out of my porch while its being repainted. Buotii is on a window sill upstairs, and I have been obsessing about the buds blasting because I moved it! Eeekk!

So, fresh white paint in the porch, mirror put back up in the bathroom. OH got suspicious! He knows it's for the hoyas and not for any sense of house-proudness Whistling

I grow about 10 ??? I think Dischidia's and the key to them is to "forget about them" they like to grow dry, even here, any problem that started seemed to be easily solved by laying off the water. If you are a habitual water'er, then put them in a really really fast draining mix or mount them. You cannot hardly over water a mounted plant unless you leave it in a bucket of water.

It's all about choices.
I agreee...Dischidias are fun, I love them...but DRY. I have been watering D. geri along with hoyas and it is doing really well...but generally dry.

I guess that has been my problem all along. I over water them, and by a lot I'm sure. For some reason, I thought they needed to be kept on the damp side Sad
