Actually, they are making more peduncles on very fast growing vines. I am growing them both very dry...no idea where it is from but it seems to work well.... No changes on the peduncles...they are, so far, about 3" long and slender....

UPDATE: Disgusted with the fact that this hoya NEVER bloomed....I put it out by a tree in a VERY dark spot in the garden near the house and forgot about it. Today I found a beautiful bloom and another to open. I haven't a clue what it really is - I got it as IML 1513 H. oreogena...but I dn't think the det. is correct (according to Christine Burton).

If anyone is in contact with her...could you tell her I would be happy to send her flowers if she is still interested. She has me blocked from communicating with her.Thumb of 2012-06-25/AlohaHoya/1da024

Oh my, they're gorgeous Carol! I love the shape of that leaf. I'm going to check mine, but I think it's putting out new growth already, I just got it last year.

Congratulations, Carol...lovely blooms. Chris states that H. oreogena is misnamed, and is actually another common hoya...but, I see significant differences, so I keep mine labeled as oreogena. You sure do bloom a lot of hoyas...simply amazing!! Fondly, Patrick

I don't think it is H. oreogena at all, either...but I will keep the IML number. Names are so fleeting!!! It smells like H. carnosa...leaf is wrong but that means nothing.... Glare

Well...it isn't related to carnosa even tho' it looks like it. It has milky sap.

I looked at herb. sheet and the leaf shape does not match. I can't see where it could even be an aff. ? The flower of oreogena has a pale pink corona so the flower might be very similar. I don't think David bloomed it, so I don't think he was calling it aff. because of the flower. So Ms. Burton was probably correct, (I think) when she disagreed with David. I looked at our plant and all the leaves are the same shape. Also, Ms. Burton's sketch of the leaf of H.Oreogena is not correct as she has given it an acute apex, and according to the latin description, it's obtuse. Ms. Burtons's sketches are usually right on. So, what is this lovely plant.? I guess Ted will have to keep calling it H.oreogena too because that name was on it when he got it.

AH...the mysteries of the internet.

Since mine came with IML 1513 I am going to call it that... It's strange that David would give it a name when he was so insistent on Bloom First Name Second. I know he never bloomed it. I have written Michele Rodda about it...maybe he has some insight. I

Carol:

Why is Christine Burton so nasty to you? You couldn't have been that bad!! LOL!
Susan

PS Are you the one she calls Hoya Pimpette? LOL!!! I saw that on some writings on the internet. Is she jealous or something?

AY, Susan...it's a long story! Basically, I think that she is simply a bit unhinged. When we were 'friends', another woman (lived close to her and regarded her as a substitute mother) told Chris I had said some things (which were NOT true) in order to turn Chris against me. SHE was the one who was jealous. Yes...I'm Hoya pimpette plus a lot more!!! NOthing of what she has said about me is true (except that I grow hoyas and that I went to visit her)....which led me to some interesting observations: if she can glibly malign me for no cause, how can anyone believe what she has said about others like Ted Green? For a fact I know that, incident by incident, what she has said about Ted Green is NOT true and that is backed up by Ted's wife, Dorothy, who is a good friend. It's funny (strange) because during our friendship I often thought to share something personal with her and then thought better of it knowing how she had turned on people. Stroke of genious!

She could have been such a tremendous boon to hoya collectors 'in the day'... Heck; when she was kicked off (and unjustly so) of Garden Web I came to her defense and was also kicked off(this is when Spike was running it) and she accuses me of getting her kicked off. The classic case of someone wanting recognition at any cost. It's sad.

I just think it is terrible to be so maligned all the time but I think she's done this to a great many people.

I do remember her on gardenweb and she was so terrible. To ask a question meant practically getting beat up. That same person who you are talking about said she was the "sweetest person". I'm glad she could see it because no one else could. LOL!!!

Just wait, this will be the topic of her next paper. Ha!!!

It hurt terribly at first (I remember I was down in Australia at the time, visiting the Liddles) when I saw her first salvo and I was shocked and amazed. Iris said, "Oh Carol, it's Christine Burton. It's not someone you should worry about. She does it to everyone she can't use". And to think that another hoya collector and I were going to try to put together enough $$ so she could come with me....I am so glad it didn't work out. I know I am in good company!!! Ah...the tales I could tell... Whistling

Well Carol, she is in need of serious therapy from what I read, even though I do not know her.
