the very kind Obi Wan Carol directed me here to cubits after I contacted her with a BATS+ question. My departure from DG was almost 2 years ago (as a starving teacher, a wise decision would be food over a subscription)

I've collected no new hoyas since my last swap with you guys in '08. I am proud to report that I've had no hoya deaths even though everyone has to stay in the house since I don't have anywhere but direct sunlight to stash them.

I'm glad to see some familiar faces as I scroll through the threads!!

I am trying to keep my plant buying in check as I'm in an apartment that isn't really conducive to plants. I've got plants in every possible window, and succulents go out in direct sun for the summer (and are jammed on a shelf to look pitiful all winter). I passed up a variegated compacta yesterday and had to justify that decision based on 1) no place to put it, and 2) HD was out of their gourd for wanting that much money for it.

One day I'm going to buy a place with a mandatory screened in porch!!!!!!

It kills me how pricey the EA plants are for what you're actually getting. :( Someone needs to regulate that!

I hear that when the plant really looks ratty the store will almost give it away... Smiling

Unfortunately, the HDs in this area refuse to reduce the prices. Instead, they send them back to the vendor for a credit. :( Sad for us.

Ive had nurseries, rather than give me a plant cheap or free when its on its way out, let me take a few cuttings instead..Worth a try?.......
