I've always wanted to order from Pikes but haven't. I need to get a price list.

There's a reason I don't delete any emails, and this is it! Here's a list of Pike's misnamed hoyas:

H. cinamomifolia is actually H. Potsii from Australia
H. 'New Guinea Red' may actually be H. Globulosa
H. 'New Guinea White' may actually be a clone of H. Magnifica
H. Darwini is actually H. DH70
H. Imperialis is actually H. Callycina
H. Incana is actually H. Australis ssp Australis
H. Minima is actually H. Serpens
H. Shepherdii/Longifolia is actually H. Shepherdii
H. Purpureo-Fusca, which is actually H. Pubicalyx silver pink

I know his H. bellas are correctly labelled, as are carnosa and compacta and everything else he has.

I haven't ordered from Pike's for a long time, so he may have some of them correctly labelled by now but these are the ones that were mislabelled when I was dealing with him.

I agree, the plants he sends are in superb condition when they're received. His packaging and quality of plants is wonderful.

You can't 'un-ring' a bell.
Thanks for this valuable info Christine. Wish I would have joined here before ordering! HA!

All of Tom's hoyas are $20 INCLUDING shipping!

He did seem to know H. 'New Guinea White' is H. Magnifica

He didn't mention having H. Purpureo-Fusca, but he did say he had silver pink, and called it a carnosa!

Sticking tongue out
All he would tell me is these hoyas were correctly labled in the 80's....

So I guess I can start a new thread in identification when I get my plants!

It's all about choices.
Laura...will do our best to help you ID your plants. You could check some of the good sites on line as to what you ordered....so you have a good idea what's wrong. When you DO put up photos and you only have leaves, show the whole plant (growth habit) and closeup on the leaves. ... Big Grin

Great thread... I am a novice and have been growing Hoyas since 2002. I have spent hours reading back through posts in Cubit -- very valuable information, much of it saved to my notes! I am not finding very many people on Gardenweb. It used to be so active!
