OK, so I received this cutting last year, rooted with no problem - and that is the problem there she sits. No 1 smig of what even looks like growth. Anyone have this one and if so does it always take this long for it to start growing? Maybe I need to change the conditions? any help, suggestions, etc would be appreciated.
I think I have the same plant, only mine was sold as H. phyllura to me from Kartuz nursery. It has had the same 4 leaves since I got it 3 years ago. Ha. However, I started fertilizing this spring and it has since sent out a loooong maroon colored vine that I have hopes will produce a couple of leaves soon.
The leaves on this plant are extreemly stiff, hard and have wavy edges. They are purplish on the back and have a purple vein down the back. They resemble finlaysonii leaves but are harder feeling. I love the plant and find it very attractive. However, like you...I wish it would grow something so it didn't look so like a fake plant. Ha.
I can't help you guys on growing this one but I have wanted to get this for a while. I did just receive a cutting of it this summer but it did not survive the long trip to me house. It has the most gorgeous leaves.
I have this and Hoya Phyllura.or rather had, as the latter has just croaked on me.... the last bit. I havent flowered either, but the leaves were very similar

Lots of controvesy over this one: Ted calls it H. clemensiorum and DL put an "aff" in there. It is a very slow grower and I grow mine in 1/2 hydroton...very lose mix...and I never let it dry out. WARMTH is nec. and lots of light or indirect sunlight. I've seen a photo of a leaf 2' long!!!!
Well it never dries out here, LOL, and it is getting very bright light but now direct sun. It is rooted, so I guess I will have to just sit back and wait till it decides it wants to do something.
My H. kast was the same way and it has now decided that it like it here and has thrown out a couple new long vines and leaves, so we are good buddies now. Only thing is the new leaves of kast is soft and pliable whereas the 2 old leaves are very hard and thick. Wonder if the new ones will harden up. Anyone growing that one?
Marcy, I don't think they are the same, mine has no maroon veins at all. Now I am going to have to hunt for the one you have, I love that maroon veining.
Carol, will do. I have to charge the battery on my carmera first, but just went out to look at it and the back has a dark maroon vein down the middle and a slight pink tint to the entire underside.
How's the vaca going Carol. Hope you are having a whale of a time.

Back home with a hacked computer....DH restoring it. OH, the vaca was great: 24/7 with my DGD, no time to chat with my son, his favorite Aunt died (it was expected) and his grandmother died (also expected)...sort of, well...uh...not really happy time. But had fun anyway and had fun "malling'....
Your venation looks right (rather sounds right)for sp. aff clemensiorum.
I think they are the same. Mine is getting a coupleof hrs of late afternoon sun so the color likely is from that. I think the phyllura name must be incorrect.
This plant grew 2 leaves this year. I took some pics of the last baby leaf that was up on that long vine from when it was little until just the other day. So I will post a few to show how it grew. It did all this growing in about 6 weeks.

There are two, I have that are very similar...one that Marcy has (with outstanding=standing out venation) and another with a smoother leaf. They tend to put out very long runners...mine blooms constantly but really doesn't grow much.
