ya know what I don't care if HOYA LACUNOSA is a 'common" hoya, every time I walk into the back bathroom when I have to have the Hoya's in, it smells Heavenly, so it will always have a home here.

You can't 'un-ring' a bell.
I love my lacunosa, too! Forever budding and blooming, and a scent so heavenly.
I love those little fuzzy blooms. *sigh*

Do you guys find the different cultivars of lacunosa more difficult to maintain. I don't have a problem with plain lacunosa but I have a difficult time with 'Ruby Sue" and 'Royal Flush'. They don't seem to have the same requirements as the plain one. And the mealies really love 'Royal Flush' at least for me.

What is the difference between 'Ruby Sue' and 'Royal Flush'? I have a red leafed one from a friend in Thailand...I find they are all about the same...

Carol,
They are very similar in habits such as blooming times and of course scent but... look very different.
Although they both have the red to burgundy colored leaves...Royal Flush has the white splotches where as Ruby Sue does not.

Yes Dee...if I am gonna find mealies they will most certainly be on Royal Flush or Sno Caps. Actually...these are the only plants I regularly spray with Permethrin regardless of sightings.

I love them all but believe it or not...have allergic symptoms while in bloom...which is most of the time

What would I look for if I wanted frequent blooms?

Audrey....begonias give frequent blooms, and geraniums. Whistling Hoyas? One persons luck is another persons downfall -

Hoyas DO bloom but should never be "counted on" for anything.. IMHO. Sorry...don't meanto be discouraging...just cautioning you..... Lovey dubby

When I remember to water mine they bloom, and I need to repot thetwo older ones, but I'm afraid they'll die if I do! They have little dirt.

Maybe just try top dressing then, Audrey?

Audrey...we willhold your hand so don't be afraid. Hoyas are tough! I tip mine out of the pot to checkon roots all of the time...DO it. I think Christina even takes them out of the pots, shaves off some roots and puts them back in!!!. After you repot,it's good to give them some root support, like a 10-30-10 or a 15-30-15 (high middle number) not one with a high first number....
