Hello everybody, since I have very limited knowledge of Hoya varieties,I thought of asking for help here .
I am interested in growing one or two Hoyas with nice leaves that have parallel vein pattern. And if the leaves develop reddish color, even better. Prefer to have colorful scented flowers that last a week or so(not 2 days),easy growing. You know all the good stuff. I can use my garage or keep it well protected in patio if it requires protection in winter.
I wanted a pottsii 'cooper creek' for that reason but looks like it is not available for this growing season.
I searched for some Hoyas that will give you all an idea of what type I am looking for and here is what I came up with. Often times pics were not too clear but it looked like parallel veins. There are many others but it will take a long long time to search and post all the names.-
pottsii
aldrichii
rigida
citrina
cominsii
nicholsonii
macrophylla(really like leaves but unsure about rest of the characteristics)
polystachya
tjadasmalangensis
Thanks a lot.

It's all about choices.
Alka....there are not TOO many hoyas with blooms lasting a week or two. 4-5 days may be more 'normal'. You might, instead, look for hoyas that bloom with multiple umbels blooming more or less at the same time, like H. amoena, H. acuta/verticilata/parasitica. Hs. macrophylla, polystachya and tjadamanguensis all have multiple rachis at the terminal end of the peduncle and the flowers tend to be small. HTH

Donna, I love that look on leaves. Wish I could have it.
Do we have an icon for throwing temper tantrum? or for laying on ground pounding fists and kicking legs......something like that.I would use it for sure if we did.Love these icons.
I have a Betel leaf plant that have that kind of look and it grows as a vine.
Well right now interested in a Hoya with that type of leaf.

Can you send some of that over here please Carol - we are having the worst drought for 20+ years! There is rain today - the first we've had in months! The forecast says Heavy Rain from 9am - 6pm. It's more like the 'soft refreshing' stuff to me but welcome regardless!
Talk of hosepipe bans very soon...the garden can go dry, but not my hoyas!!!

You might like H. pallida (the name, as I received it from Gardino's), and similarly, bhutanica.

While the veins on the following are not raised, you may want to look at: cinnamomifolia, camphorifolia, blaschaernazii, siariae, and fitchii.

I really like camphorifolia's leaves when they are all flushed red, and the veins read as white. Little fitchii has the neatest foliage of the whole group, to my eye.

I'm not sure about the flower longevity on any of these, nor their tolerance for cold.

Thanks David .Flowers on blaschaernazii, siariae look really good, lovely campanulate look and leaves on fitchii are beautiful. I thought camphorifolia is not a good grower and takes long to start blooming! Blooms are gorgeous though.
I also like many that Carol suggested.
Got to do some homework and see what is available to decide what to get. Since I am not planning on growing too many Hoyas, I would really like to have a good one.
I think it is a good idea to enter little description of leaves in database too.Like heart shape, round, long, turtle back veins, parallel veins etc etc. I guess I can still find them if I use right search words (tags).
Carol, looking forward to your database entry and I love rain and can not get enough of it even during our rainy season. My favorite part of life in Florida is rain. Otherwise I like cooler temps.
Plants flourish during that season regardless of whether they have low water need or not and I try to fertilize on rainy days, thus saving myself some work of watering in the fertilizer.Seems to work well.Only down side is too many accidents on Florida road those days.
But I agree, sometimes rain gets in the way and keeps us from accomplishing tasks.
