That's happened in the Walmarts in this area of Canada too. No hanging baskets anywhere. Fewer houseplants than ever and more ordinary than ever.

Well if they where not such jerks when you talk to them or respond to emails. Or keep sending the Exact plants eveytime they would have business

Ha! Hilarious!

I replied to this thread once already... did I forget to submit?

Crazy. Maybe I will pick up that super variegated KP, after all...

Our Walmart, in Central Virginia, is still receiving them. They usually get a shipment once a week. Granted, you might find ivies but sometimes there are hoya jewels in the mix.

Thanks Carol.

Last month I found a large EA basket labelled Chelsea and it did have a few Chelsea leaves but what caught my eye (since I own 3 of those already) is that most leaves were large, smooth leaves (otherwise Chelsea leaves without the indents) so I snatched it up thinking it was something way different. The leaves have held true, large and smooth and grows very quickly.

Reverted?

Evidently this plant did revert but I couldn't be happier because I already have 3 Chelseas (dearly love them). But this particular plant looks like something different.

I saw another Chelsea in Walmart tonight and had to stop myself from picking it up. LOL~

Yes, I do recall...You must love your Chelseas! Lovey dubby Fantastic for you!
I wish I could find a 'Chelsea', but the last few shipments of EA baskets here have been plain ole lacunosa and then KP.
Seems we only get one type per shipment. But at least one can choose from 6 plants, and get their pick!!

Question: Does the reverted Chelsea look like a plain ole carnosa? Smaller? Curious!

No, it has wide oval smooth leaves at this point.

I believe you are the person that has the speckled carnosa (dark green) that I have been searching for. Years ago, I could find the solid green and then they seem to disappear but I think they're making a comeback.

You will probably not find anything but EA plants or Costa Farms in the big box stores. When you have collected all those, then you have to hit up the specialty places. Sad but true!

Yes. I agree But up here in Canada, it's even hard to find EA baskets. And if you want anything else, it helps to know somebody.

Susan, I still have that big old speckled carnosa. A friend gave it to me last year, and it's looking like it may bloom for the first time.
The lady that had it didn't even know it could! If you decide you need some, c-mail me!

Speaking of chelsea's i have one that has grown beautifully for me!! I have noticed lately a lot of the leaves are flat some look like hearts. The plant is close to being half & half of flat leaves and leaves with the indents.I was also going to post a question since i put it outside & it's getting more sun it has white speckles.I don't think it's a problem the leaves are healthy and i like the look of the white speckles gives it even more character.
Is there another type Hoya it's reverting to or is from?If so what is it?

Wonderful day to all!!! Smiling

Chelsea (FYI: when a hoya name is written with initial lower case it means the plant is a species/when the initial letter is uppercase it means it is a cultivar...which Chelsea is) was/is a sport of one of the other sports ( Confused _...either Krinkle 8 or ????) and if the reversion begins it is best to cut that growth out.

Thanks for the lesson on the correct way to write the plants names!!! I never knew there was so much to learn when i started growing plants, but i learn something new almost every day!!!

As for the Chelsea,Do you mean remove the leaf that's flat or that section of the plant? My plant has got both indented & flat leaves on the same stem.I don't think removing the leaves would leave the plant very appealing.

If it is reverting i could just end up with a plant with flat, speckled leaves correct?I think the plant is one of the prettiest i have and if it won't hurt anything i'm going to leave it to do it's own thing. If a time comes that it doesn't look like a Chelsea i will have to just get another Chelsea, and keep my fingers crossed it doesn't revert.

Here are a few pic's of mine you can see there are both flat & indented leaves on the same stems.

Sorry about that last picture,if you can make it out it shows the two types of leaves growing together and some of the picture's you can see the white speckles.

Have a wonderful day
