I have a H. compacta regalis,

The plant is still in the pot i bought it in.It has growth a lot & i can see roots on top of the pot.How do i know when to re-pot it. Confused Thumb of 2012-04-29/johoya/25e8b5

I am no expert but as a general rule,if roots are really crowded,time to repot. You would need to pull whole thing (roots with soil) out of pot to check roots.

It's all about choices.
Sometimes when the roots get TOO thick in the pot, the water can't run thru and parts of the root system die out...then rot. I repot when I can't squeeze the pot (plastic, of course Whistling ) any more. HTH
