So you have no problem with the odor indoors Mitzi? I would be scared to use it indoors also because.... I bought some chicken manure one time and used it outdoors and the FLIES! Blinking

It's all about choices.
STUTZ is the name I associate with Chicken Manure. If you Google them you might find a distributor near you....or you could call them and ask them. I have it mixed in my planting medium so when I plant cuttings that have rooted or repot plants, there's a bit of 'organic' for them to nibble on. Whistling

Hmmm....never went to Ace except years ago for some tools. Will try there. Thanks MJ.
Carol, is there a website for this STUTZ product? My word search did not give any good results.

Thanks Carol ....trucking company Hilarious! why are they selling chicken poo is beyond my understanding. Looks like I would need to call them to find out how and if I can get it.

Thanks Cindy, this is a company based in Wisconsin .....7 lb is the smallest size there. It should not be too difficult getting it from there. I will find out. I could probably use this stuff for my fruit trees also, specially little Longan tree.

The site says it does not smell or has very little smell. Does it smell in your experience?

My nose is highly sensitive so better be prepared. If I use this stuff I would need to stay away from plants for a few days . I guess with all the humidity and mosquitoes outside, I prefer to stay indoor anyway.

Chicken poo smells gawdawful when you put it out...but the smell dissapates. Use it on fruit trees ONLY if they are young and you want growth.... We love the stuff. I mix it in my media when I pot up cuttings and it really helps....

Thanks Carol. My Longan tree is still quite small. They grow slow anyway but I like using manure/poo whatever for extra nutrients and to enrich soil because all we have here is sand under 6 inches of 'soil'. Potted plants are a different story, takes a while for smell to go away from them for whatever reason. I got to think about it ( chicken poo )because of bad smell issues.
I used fish emulsion in past, one in the brown bottle....Alaska stuff.Even tried one in white bottle. Fishy smell lingered for many days in the pots and ultimately I stopped buying it.

If chicken stuff smells at least as strong as fish stuff then I do not think I would go for it.

There is a product called EM and it stands for Effective Microorganisms. It's not cheap but it goes a LOOOOONG way. One of the uses is to take the odor away from 'things' : you can spray it in a smoky room...spray your compost even spray your dog if it smells. Anyway...the wee little microorganisms is what makes LIFE and the worms love it!!!! If you go to their website you can see all of the different uses

http://www.emamerica.com

I use it for a long of things:

Adding to fish fertilizer or chicken poop in the water to water into the plant.
To plant a tree: dig a hole, put garbage in bottom, pour in a bit of diluted EM with molassas, cover with dirt....repeat until the hole is filled. Now you have a mass a worms in the hole and great compost/dirt for your good plant.
Spray a diluted solution in my greenhouse (keeps fungus away, plants love it)
Add diluted with molassas and water when I plant seedlings/seeds.
Pour down my drains to clear them...great for cess pools and septic systems

On the website, look at the agricultural uses.

The site has the different ratios.... I put the chicken stuff on top and water it in....1t. EM to 1t. molassas to a gal. let it sit over night and use it after it is 'activated'.

I know a coffee farmer who uses it as part of his organic program. It is actually what attracts worms in the soil (microorganisms) and the molassas feeds them so they grow and more worms come and...VOILA...soon your whole garden is ahappy happenen worm farm!!!! And worm poop is the best!

You can use EM and Molassas to feed animals...it is a good Probiotic (I have a friend who drinks it faithfully)...lots of uses for the stuff...soaking cuttings in it before planting...hey...good stuff.

I saw it being sold in a plant fair organised by county but I was not aware of it's benefits back then and the guy was selling it too expensive without explaining anything. I went to a recent fair but no luck. I will keep trying.
