I love the red leaves of hoya obscura. I have 3 obscuras but its leaves is only green. I thought it was a consequence of lack of sum, but a friend of mine who lives in a very sunny place put hers on full sun and the leaves still green.
Is there several types of hoya obscura? Which one is the one with reds leaves when exposed to the sun?
The one I'm looking for is this one (picture from internet)
Another question is which is the difference of hoya juanguoana and hoya non nooch, as per pictures on internet they seem to be very similar.

I don't know about H. obscura.... but H. juanguoaina (sp?) has a green leaf, slightly cupped and rather large, and the sp. Nong Nooch I grow from Liddle has a very stiff leaf with dark green venation (similar to that group with sp. Poring, callistophylla etc.). What site did you see them looking alike?
Here is mine and it has been difficult to grow . Only one cutting remained out of 3 in the pot.Leaves got red color after exposure to sun light . I bought it from a guy 'Philip' at a local show.-
Mitzi, I think there are several clones of obscura. I have the pink/orange flowered one - and that has lovely glossy green leaves that don't colour red however much light/sun they get. There was someone ealier this year or last year that had bought the MOST gorgeous red leaved obscura. I'll have a trawl through the threads and see if I can find it
I got my clone named 'Philip' from Gardino's last year. It does color up better than my old clone, but way up north here, it doesn't get quite as dark as the one you show. Here's mine...
And that was after being in a south window. We just don't get the intensity up here, so I'll probably never get mine to be THAT red! Beautiful!
I bought a Obscura "Red Leaf" from David Liddle in 2007... The leaves are a little bit red at the tip, but not as much as yours... Maybe it doesn't have enough sun??? The flowers are yellowish/white...

I'm wondering if it could be the latitude...or the intensity of the UV rays in the sunlight. Or, could it be the clone...goodness, there are enough clones running around!!!
