It's all about choices.
The first umbel of flowers is H. dasyantha, taken last year.... The second umbel is on a 3 node cutting of that same plant taken today. Essentially they are the same plant....Thumb of 2013-05-02/AlohaHoya/0f9d4e

No, I did not get them confused. I only have one plant of H. dasyantha and I took a cutting a month ago for someone....and that 3 node cutting is blooming.

Yep...amazed me tooo! Rolling my eyes.

Wow,Carol. Who can tell it is same plant! May be that is what happens in the jungles....leaves change a bit, flower changes a bit and they get different names.

I wonder if that cutting will bloom a dark pink like that or revert to the lighter pink. Would be intersting if you could toss it back in the same pot and watch them mature together.

Is there any difference between soil, etc. That could potentially affect (or is it effect) the flower color, couldn't it?

The basic soil is the same...could be the fertilizer, temperature...lots of things but I have never seen the difference so strong...

Whatever the cause they are both very pretty aren't they? Would be a lovely duing blooming season if one thought they would retain that difference potted up together.
