It's all about choices.
I can't grow it well so won't comment much. For me it likes shade with indirect bright light...lots of water but loose mix...I've killed many of them... Glare
Leap. The net will appear.

Thanks Carol. Mine grows pretty rapidly under the lights...this is the 2nd set of buds that fall off. Sad I guess, I will give it more water and see what happens. It's 90F in NJ this week and gets pretty warm under the lights even with the fan running all day long. Sad

Does it need to be under lights?

Olesya, Doug has done quite a few experiments with lasiantha. He advocates growing it semi hydro.
Have a search on his website to see his cuttings experiment videos. Very enlightening! Good luck Thumbs up

oh - not awake yet - so just edited this to say it was praetorii that Doug did his experiments with! They are pretty similar, and I think this is how he grows is lasiantha anyway.
He told me it would grow pretty well in a self watering pot too.

Do not touch or move your hoya once it starts to bud up.

Carol, I don't know...does it? I put it under the lights a few weeks ago (when I got it) and it started growing very rapidly...started producing peduncles everywhere but the blooms fell off. Confused
Cindy, I didn't touch it or move it. It was sitting in the same spot. The only thing that happened is weather change. But the plaint is inside. It did go from 58F to 92F in 2 days.
Julie, yes, this is the first place that I go to check since our climates are almost the same. Yes, it was H. Praetorii. I think my praetorii rooted okay....because it started to bud up....afraid to breath next to it or it will drop buds too. Crying Plus, it did need more water... Will try again.
Thank you so much ladies for your suggestions and advice!

As I remember...it likes water...but rots quickly if the media has peat and there is no air around the roots....

I 'just' rooted H. Praetorii...I kept it pretty moist, high humidity, under a good amount of light and warm...inside a container with a very little air coming in. It worked. Smiling

If you can find some hydroton (as seen on Vermonts Hoyas) it will probably work best....

I grow mine in semi hydro and it is currently blooming and has a second bloom starting to grow. I water mine almost everyday and it is by a west facing window. The roots suck up the water in the reservoir really fast. It is one of the easiest hoyas to grow and bloom for me and I live in Ohio.

I tip my hat to you. Michelle..you obviously have a knack with this one. So many people find it difficult. Semi hydro seems to help doesn't it?
