Carol, I commented on this on the facebook page. I've had this happen w/ other Hoya's. It's weird but nothing harmful, and it does make for an interesting display of blooms later. Post pics as they develop ! I bet they are spectacular. !
Name: Carol Noel Hawaii (near Hilo) It's all about choices.
I moved curtisii to the outside of the shade house where she gets all the water (thru the shade cloth) and more sun!!! SURPRISE! Only the umbels on the sun side of the plant are blooming now so I turned her around!!! I counted 17 umbels. Blew me away. This was one of my first Hoyas ever...and I have never repotted it and she gets really wet so I think there are only roots in the pot....11 years!
Doug has written much about hoya lasiantha, including his experiences of the buds blasting before opening! He kindly sent me a cutting earlier this year
I have had exactly the same experience
...but I managed to get ONE bloom to maturity, and am delighted to see how fabulous they are in real life
Hi jimmy! yes i saw that! I may have trouble getting that kind of temperature difference...but very interesting to know that it may be the key to blooming full peduncles on this plant!
