I came across this website and found some hoyas at good prices. I've not ordered anything from them yet and I think I'll make an order when i get home.

For those who live in Houston, I've found H. Australis, H. bilobata, H. Curtisii and H. Lacunosa Royal Flush at LOWE's

Just to let you know...Hoya Bandaensis on there site is really H. globulosa. It has really nice leaves, but I hear its hard to flower. Also H. cinnamomifolia is not correct either.I believe it to be a form of H. pottsii. Here is a photo of globulosa I ordered from them a few years ago.Thumb of 2014-01-06/VineMaster/b05bff

Hi!H. bilobata has been miss-labeled for a while.Hoya experts call it Hoya DS-70.I had one for years. It flowered a lot and was a nice hanging plant, but i gave it away.Good find on H.australis ! I found one of those 3 years ago at Lowes.Let that one dry out to the bottom before watering it,expecially in the winter time.It dosen't like EA's compacted soil that much.Hows the serpens doing?I'm getting yellow leaves on mine.I prob over watered it.I have another small cutting putting out new leaves for a backup!

Hi Jimmy ...
I've not been home for three weeks so I don't know how my serpens are doing .. I'll let you know when I get home this sunday. When I left they were still very healthy. Hopefully it's doing okay :) I'm thinking of carrying the Australis home :) It's a big pot ...and cuttings for the others. I couldn't find any hoyas at LOWE'S in California esp. where I live. I'm Happy to find 4 of them here in Houston.

It's all about choices.
The listings for hoyas on that site tell me they really don't know about plants...names are incorrect or misspelled or inaccurate.

One of the drawbacks with Exotic Angel plants is that the potting mix contains a lot of wetting crystals which keep the plants very wet for a long time - a benefit in large stores - but I have never been able to grow them, I think because my environment is humid.
Leap. The net will appear.

Carol ..
I keep the Australis in the same hanging pot as I bought and brought it back to CA .. will see how they do ... if they don't do well then I have to repot them ..
I haven't place the order yet on that site... I'll think again if I should or shouldn't buy from them ... I realized they do have weird names for hoyas ...

Jimmy.. my serpens are doing okay ... I saw only one new shoot ...

So sad that my Imperialis cutting is dead .. hic hic ... the second day I got the cutting.. all of the leaves fell off ... and I tried to grow just the stem... now it's all dry ... :(

Jimmy, give your Imperalis as much bright light as you can without exposing to hot midday or afternoon sun. It will bloom. Mine blooms year round, even in the greenhouse in winter.

Jimmy .. yes I'll wait a little while to place an order... I live in SF so the weather is not so hot and not so cold... It takes a while to dry out .. however I have them in the self watering pots so I think it helps.. hope to see your Imperialis' flowers soon...

MJ .. your imperialis are huge and beautiful... I love them .. I love big hoya flowers...

I'll wait til it gets a little cooler then I'll bring all of my pots to the back yard ... it's still too cold at night right now and bringing them back and forth is a hassle..

I have one that grows outside in full sun all winter/summer and it blooms profusely!!!! But that caution is well taken... I may get some burned leaves at time....but it is SO big I can't grow it inside....!

Hi Carol...
I think it will be okay to leave them outside since SF's weather never gets too hot ... I can move them into the shade on the days that get too hot... I hope that will work ..

If you rigged a type of shade???? Or planted some taller stuff on the sun side so it'ld get filtered hot sun? Are you in the city?Do you ever get really straight on put sun...isn't it kind of misty most of the time? You would not believe the sun where they grow in Borneo!!! And in a little copse of trees...yes in the shade but with BRIGHT intense sunlight on a parched (dry) field and NO breeze grew bushes and bushes of H. imperialis...in the shade, in the FULL flat out HOT sun and happy as clams. Blooming all over. Granted...in the full on sun the leaves didn't look as nice as they do growing in the shade...but they had more flowers. I was amazed and I would still be scared to grow it in full sun ALL day long. The one I have growing out in the sun is an experiment...It was out all summer as well and it doesn't look bad. I'll post photos tomorrow.

Yes carol, I'm not quite in the city ... I live on the other side of the city which is also close to the ocean ... We get the ocean breeze on this side of the city ... I think if i put them in the back yard, they will get straight on sun ... I'll let them stay out for a few days when it's getting warmer to see how they do ... if any of them get burn then that's it ... in door they will stay ...

Jimmy,
Get some tomato cages, they make great "trellis's" for Imperalis.
