Coralee, I really love that danumensis and your photos are outstanding!
Alka, love your flowers as well. Do you have a photo of the leaves on shepherdell? I have a NOID that I supect may be shepherdell, but can't be sure. The leaves are wider than shepherdii and they vary from three to 5 inches in length.
I will take pics tomorrow . For now, all I would say they are long leaves and a bit like Wayettii but different look. You can also see the leaves in picture I posted .
Thank you very much Alka. Beautiful plant, but alas I don't think that it is the one that I have! My leaves are a little wider and not quite as pointed on the ends. It has not bloomed yet, so maybe when I have a flower I'll find out what it is. Here is a photo of my leaves:
Mine stays in mostly bright shade, due to lack of sunnier space so there may be slight difference in leaves. Otherwise they look very similar to mine. Your plant is large enough to bloom. May be giving it a bit of bloom boosting fertilizer next few waterings will help!
I love your Patella but haven't been able to get my cuttings to survive so far. How long do those Patella flowers last?
My flowers are from the H. archboldiana X H. onychioides I got from Carol last year. I wasn't sure I could get this one to bloom here so this was a nice surprise. My dogs knocked off the buds about three times but it keeps producing new buds. I got smart and moved it off the floor when the dogs knocked off all but these three buds.
Coralee, patella flowers do not last too long.....I will pay better attention this time. This is second time it is blooming in recent weeks, so I guess it is OK now but I also had trouble initially.
I got archboldiana x onychoides from Gardino which is growing well but no blooms yet. Only have it less than a year and I grow in bright shade with some morning sun. Does it need lot of light ?
Mine has been sitting in my south facing window since Fall. House is sort of aimed for solar (SE facing) so it gets more direct sun in winter, less in summer but location is very very warm. My archboldiana x onychoides already had these flower spurs on it when I got it.
