|In that photo above are "Mama, Auntie and Bucky Nubbin". We hadn't seen the other 2 for a few months, but on the photos from yesterday's check, I saw them both at the other feeder. I was glad that Bucky Nubbin was still around. I am looking forward to seeing him again this coming season.
When Rick was field dressing the doe (Auntie) he took on Halloween (one of those above) there was this white stringy stuff throughout. When I asked him what it was he said it was the fat. He said he'd never seen so much on any of the other deer he'd taken in the past.
I was really surprised after that comment though at how lean the meat was. I guess I expected "marbling" like I've seen in beef after he said that. Instead cutting the meat was like cutting through butter. Smooth as silk.
